Well I am using firefox, but a snake must have removed the information. Mobil most likely has people who patrol this site, can't imagine they dont. They don't want the Group III word to spread. But 99% of consumers either don't know the difference between G3 and PAO or they just dont give a flip. IMHO when Exxon merged with them, M1 went down hill. I suppose M1 gets the bad rap now, but in reality its most likely Exxon that ruined the M1 name. Maybe if M1 suffers enough they will bring back full PAO synthetics. But odds are that won't happen in a million years.

If they dont want it to spread to their consumers, then why the #@$%! dont they just step up to the plate and say exactly whats in their oil formulation instead of hiding behind their product? Screw them,I'll use a product that if I have uestions about,I can get reliable answers from.

Yes, it appears a certain party or group is intent on goring ExxonMobil's ox with this Grp III issue.

If you follow the link to the Wikipedia page & click on edit at the Mobil 1 section & click edit history, the following will display:

(cur) (last) 03:45, 4 February 2007 65.88.98.232 (Talk) (→Mobil 1)
(cur) (last) 03:41, 4 February 2007 65.88.98.232 (Talk) (→Mobil 1)
(cur) (last) 05:41, 3 February 2007 65.88.100.253 (Talk) (→Mobil 1)
(cur) (last) 03:33, 3 February 2007 65.88.100.253 (Talk) (→Mobil 1)
(cur) (last) 03:20, 3 February 2007 65.88.100.253 (Talk) (→Mobil 1)

The IP addresses of the 2 computers used to insert& edit the section titled "Controversy" are 65.88.98.232 and 65.88.100.253 on February 3 & 4.

Note, these IP addresses are not logged in Wikipedia user names, so it looks like a one-time "guest" appearance.

What I would like to believe is that the 2 IP addresses do not also appear on the Bitog membership roster, but then again I sometimes hope for too much...

65.88.100.253 shows to be an IP address from Germantown, MD via DirecPC.com
65.88.98.232 same as above

The group III reference is still there as of 4:32 PM EST, Feb 10, 2007.

"Mobil 1 was introduced in 1974. In 2002 Mobil 1 introduced "supersyn" anti-wear technology, followed by Mobil 1 Extended Performance in 2005 which increased the use of this technology further by using Group III base oil."

Probably some Amsoil hack who is in heaven after Mobil 1 was exposed. haaaa. He's having a field day.

Can someone point me to the definitive thread that discovers/proves/shows Mobil 1 was/is not a true synthetic? I've searched but there are about a billion to choose from.

It's gone now. Makes me want to hit every single auto site I can find and "spread the word".

I don't get it. What do you mean 'it's gone?' Wasn't it a thread here from last year?

anyone want to bet that XOM has spent more on attorneys, marketing missing links, engineering hype and Web experts than if they would have kept the real PAO base stock

no XOM or SynTec fake oils in this oil stash or oil budget
