That's just how it works. Exxon pays GM big bucks to put it's oil in the crankcase of it's high performance vehicles, and put the Mobil 1 label on the filler cap.

Exxon also pays big bucks to have their oil tested and licensed for spec's like Honda's HTO-06. Mobil sets the standard as far as certifications and approvals held.
Yea sure Mobil 1 cant even pass the SEQ IVA wear test. Pass is under 90 microns of wear Mobil 1 fails allowing 186 microns of wear. These are facts not internet fiction.

Indeed. Pretty much every mainstream oil except mobil 1. (Though I believe it now passes, but at some point it did not)

I'm pretty sure every word you write is Internet fiction.

They are still API licensed. They may have, in the past that had a bad batch that did NOT pass. And were caught with their pants down. However, that has long since been rectified.

You simply have a hate-on for Mobil. You've made that readily apparent in pretty much every post you've made on this board. When you aren't bashing somebody or plugging Valvoline, you are bashing XOM.

I'm not sure how transparent you think your vendetta is.... But with 25 of your 147 posts being clearly anti-Mobil (not including the two in this thread)... That is almost 20% of your total post count being dedicated to this cause. It makes it pretty simple to pick up on.....

I'm not a big fan of a couple of oil brands. But I don't make a point of running them into the mud every chance I get like you do with Mobil.

We get it. You don't like XOM. But you've gone well past simply voicing your dislike and have turned this into some sort of hate machine...

Good catch Overk1ll. Sometimes it seems like oil marketers on the board or some people are really passionate about their motor oil.

If you're worried about iron, use a magnetic drain plug. M1 seems to last longer than other oils though it may not clean as well as the SPOUS superstars

I don't believe you'll have "better" performance. As long as you follow your owners manual, ANY oil that meets the spec should give you many miles.

Lol,always a Mobil 1 bashing with theses type threads ,seen it comeing,ya don't like the oil fine,DON'T POST then!

My favorite oil is Pinnacle National Synthetic and you cannot show any engines that has been ruined by it, I have used it for 32 days and no problem, plus Govt Motors has improved it for Corvetts and other high reving engines. You cannot find it at Wallys but you can find a good assortment at Minnys storm door and awning stores and if you look in the fill hole, well I will let you find out what happens yourself.. Go Flyers.
19.gif

Gap has closed. For years Mobil 1 was well ahead of the other brands. Now that synthetics are becoming the norm and other companies are taking them more seriously, there are many good options to pick from. Mobil 1 is no longer superior to many other brands IMO.

ZDDP7,
I don't recall anyone saying Mobil 1 oils are the best oil period. I never have, but I do think they are one of several top flight oils. They certainly have served me well. But as OVERK1LL stated you seem to have serious "hate " for XM which isn't justified in my view.

Mobil 1 5w30 always passed the cam lobe wear test, just not, apparently, the one their competitors did. That's why it always states/stated it on the bottle, it passed. It would be hard for me to give a lot of credit to a competitors test. I have no interest in supporting M1 either. For those who are experts in wear, do you know in your mind how much 186 microns is, and how many mils that is? I do, it is a lot of wear, over 7 mils. Experts should know what a mil equals without looking it up on the internet. If one gets a simple micrometer and learns how to hold it properly, and starts measuring things, the reality of the numbers will be understood better. Not a vernier, a micrometer, which has feel.

When competitors go to great lengths to prove something wrong, and launch huge marketing campaigns, to me it means the product was great in the first place.

Sorry to offend anyone, there are many fine technicians on here, but it is frustrating to read stuff sometimes.

+1 most folks here don't know metrology from meteorology yet they argue like they do

Whenever I see a comment like this on BITOG... which is frequently... my confidence in any testimonials made here drops yet further.
