I'd like to clarify something - is this 17k MILES, or 17k KM???

Not bad results for 17k, MILES, but we've seen a lot better. IF this is only 17k KM, or 10.5k miles, then the results are horrible!

Al would worry me - it is very high, even for the miles, whatever they are.

Is there anyway you could post the average for this vehicle along with the mileage those averages are based on?

This is something that would allow simpleton like me to put these numbers into more of a context, as then one could extrapolate out the numbers to your mileage for a more A-B comparison. If it's a linear process I mean, which I don't know if it is (?).

Thanks. I was gonna say...........

Fe 150 | 400 42
Cr 20 | 40 2.2
Ni 5 | 10 2.2
Ti --- | --- 0.0
Ag 2 | 5 0.0
Al 40 | 90 25
Pb 50 | 150 6.9
Cu 155 | 250 97
Sn 10 | 25 0.0
Si 30 | 75 15

Had me shocked!

Looks OK - I would expect a bit lower numbers. Does this engine have an oil cooler or copper lines?

Silt, dirt, precipitate, debris? Emulsified and free water? I don't understand well the differences in those, except debris can include everything indoors and out, and silt is dirt deposited by a river or body of water. Water is not in solution with motor oil, it is a mixture, or emulsion, and is still free as a bird. So what is the testimony of this company to use such terms?

The ranges which I removed were lab guidance numbers. This was the first UOA on this engine. The numbers in the service log are in KM. This was 17,000 mi since the last oil change. Car has about 44,000 KM on it since new.

Ok, Just a few questions:
Why was the Fram removed after 2 days?
400 ml is about 1/2 QT??
900 ml is about 1 QT??
Why was 900 ml added and then the oil changed 2 weeks later?
Sorry for the question about ml to qts, but this 'ol Missouri hick still has trouble with the conversions

I removed the Fram filter because I was able to acquire the Filter from the Ford dealership that I wanted to use on the engine so I changed it out. The oil was added because the level was low. When I realized I had to add an entire quart 2 weeks ago, I thought I better check my service log, I then realized it had been a really long time since the last change out. My intention was to use the results from this test as guidance if I could wait until the spring to change my oil in the driveway.

my question is, why on earth would you take this car into such a long oci? regardless of oil or results, there is NO way id go past 12k mi

My friend Frank would ask you why you would run beyond 3000 mi. The UOA looks good, if anyone can point out what's wrong with the oil sample I am interested in learning.

Although I have a friend that does 15-18K on M1 5-30, and has 280K on his Silverado 5.3 without a problem, I would feel more like 10K with regular M1.
