Is it ok to add a little 20w50 to existing five quarts of 5w30 in the sump?

My oil pressure was a little low in Dodge 4.7....so I added 1/2 quart of Valvoline Maxlife 20w50 (then added the other half to Gmc 5.7).

P.s. pressure is slighty up now

You added 1/2 quart 20W50 to raise oil pressure even the oil level was full on dipstick ? Or you added half quart because the oil level was half way between add-line and full ?

Yes it's okay although it's certainly not the best way to thicken up a 5W-30 due to it's very low VI.
Probably the best and most cost effective way to increase the viscosity of a 5W-30 is to blend in some M1 0W-40. This way you're maximizing the increase in viscosity at operating temp's while minimizing the viscosity increase on start-up. A 20W-50 does the exact opposite.
