True. Will be interesting to see how Exxon-Mobil's shortage effects their supply to Amsoil......

At least Mobil was honest about the specs their previous substitute product was independently validated to meet - vs taking the alternative route of intentional deception. Some of us have to respect their integrity.

We'll have to see what they plan to do this time around

ExxonMobil is experiencing supply disruptions due in part to the effects
of Hurricane Ike on some of our raw material suppliers.
We can not speculate on when we will return to historical production
output.
We are currently evaluating raw material availability and inventory
requirements to ascertain the most feasible and timely re-supply options
available to our customers.
We apologize for any inconvenience this might have caused to you and

I had mentioned in the WalMart pricing thread that M1 at Costco was GONE in my town... I guess know I know why.

Well, I got my answer today (I didn't ask) ..apparently there's adequate supply for normal levels of sales and NORMAL anticipated growth in sales.

..but if M1 remains in short supply ..the ability to supply higher than anticipated growth is uncertain and there may be delays.

Naturally, I recommend that existing customers buy their anticipated demand early to assure an uninterrupted supply.

haymaker,

I just came back from my local PEP BOYS and saw that they had plenty of Mobil 1 on the shelve in all the grades. I use the M! 5W-30 in my Toyota Camry 89 with good results.

Of note... in mentioning price increases at WalMart... yesterday I noted that ALL EXPECT MOBIL had reverted back to more traditional pricing for the 5 and 4 qt bottles. The single qts are VERY EXPENSIVE.

SO YB 5 qt was 11... MaxLife Blend 13 ... PP still higher at 21 ...SynPower $19 !!! .... All had rollback stickers.

M1 shelves now almost empty, prices very high... I bought out the last EP bottles as that is what I have decided to run in my Silverado.

Just came back from Murray's Auto Parts. They had plenty of Mobil 1 on the shelves. The best part..I got 6 quarts of Mobil 1 0w40 for $5.00 @ qt!!! They had an in-store coupon I didn't even know about. This is in Chicago, south side. Happy hunting!

Pep Boys (which I hadn't been to ..literally in years) had a decent supply of what they had. A few empty slots ..no EP. $6.99 was the going price.

Too bad for EM -- I just don't want their stuff that bad.......

the plant was definately affected, roughly 7' of water in areas. They are replacing pumps and piping throughout the units. I was told possibly 3 months till thery are completely up and running at full capacity.

I needed oil yesterday when I was in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. I stopped at Auto Value 'cause I knew they carried Amsoil and I wanted something I felt comfortable mixing with RLI bio-synthetic. They've quit stocking Amsoil and are down to ATF and the XL-7500 oils. I bought a quart of Mobil 1 5W-30 (they didn't have 0W-40), the selection of Mobil 1 was pretty scant and it looks like they're filling their shelves with Quaker State products (no PP, either).
