Champion Labs which is owned by First Brand now, who also owns Fram. That's why some Frams are starting to look like AC Delco filters. You said you prefer OEM filter. Do you mean AC Delco? I wonder who makes it. Purolator maybe?

I see. He says OEM filters don't rust, but he posted a photo of a very rusty (rusted through) FRAM filter, which looked a lot rustier to me than the Microgard Select filter.Champion Labs which is owned by First Brand now, who also owns Fram. Is the gasket hanging over the inside edge of the seat at all? Usually the filter mount seat is pretty wide.Just did a Microgard select on a CRV. Had a NAPA gold on it, the napa filter gasket is the correct fit for the base, used calipers to check as well. The Microgard is about .08 to .10 smaller ID and OD gasket than the Napa. That puts some of the gasket or o ringish looking gasket to the inside of the of the contact pad.
Yes it is per the old style caliper measurement. Don't under stand why its as far off as it is. Thread worked great, mislabeled? Is the gasket hanging over the inside edge of the seat at all? Usually the filter mount seat is pretty wide.
The Microgard Select for my Buick is advertised 25 microns @ 99%. Perhaps it varies by size or part #? Not that it matters though. Whether 20 or 25, either is good.I love the Microgard Select MSL57055 because the Bypass Boogeyman hates it! 99% at 20 microns and meets the Subaru bypass spec. Bypass enthusiasts of the world unite!!!
I'm guessing the undercarriage of your car has seen some salt and water puddles. It could be anything in your daily commute that interacts with metals.I wasn't that thrilled with it. Metal shavings came off the threads and ended up on my magnetic drain plug. Also never had an oil filter rust like this. Very much hoping my engine is okay.
I'm going back to OEM.
Metal shaving at the tip of my thumb.

Which post are you referring to?Wait a minute, why does the center core of the filter look like a big gap at the top?

So no O reileys here where I am in central PA.
Fram is gone.
Super Tech is gone.
Purolator tears.
I for one don't want an over $10 filter.
Now what?
We HAVE TO get back to making stuff here!

Nope.I can get a Mobil 1 filter at Rural King for $9.99. Any of those nearby?
Nope.
Walmart, Napa, Auto Zone, Advance Auto, Tractor Supply, and Fisher.
Think some of the Purolators (owned by Mann_Hummel) are still made in the USA - plant in Fayetteville, NC. Not may choices these days now that Champ Labs and Fram are going down the drain. Now what?
