I remember reading somewhere that it is best to wait at least 1hr before removing certain sealants. While the sealant may have "hazed over" after 15 minutes, the "cross-linking" that occurs needs additional time.

My understanding is that the cure time is only applicable for: 1) exposure to the elements, 2) for application of a second coat or a different topper wax.

What you refer as cross-linking is actually the curing, that is why baking under the sun after polishing will shorten curing team/crosslinking to ensure the coating is less exposed to the elements before it cures. Furthermore powerlock cannot be layered more than 2 coats.

I recently applied PowerLock to my father's 92 Previa and my mother's 92 Previa.

The Previa received two coats spaced 3 days apart, while the Altima received a single-coat only.

For both vehicles, the prep process included a wash with Meguiars Gold Class, followed with a de-contamination using the Nanoskin AutoScrub med-grade wash mitt.

I allowed the sealant to remain on the surface for at least 45 minutes before wiping off.

Whether it's the PowerLock, the prep-process, or the application process, something went right on both cars. I washed both cars for the first time today (after 30 days), and found the surface to be extremely slick during washing. The soap would just slide off the paint during the wash process.

I was simply appalled. The PowerLock makes maintenance nearly as easy as the OptiCoat 2.0 that is on my car.

Prior to PowerLock, the Altima had Collinite 845 and the paint was not very slick during the wash process (in comparison to the PowerLock).

So, if you prefer a traditional paint sealant, I would highly recommend Menzerna PowerLock. However, I still think that most people are better served by a paint coating nowadays.

This is my dad's daily driver. He parks the car inside a garage during the day and at night.

The van has seen three washes since the original application on 8/29/13. At the time of the original application, the van was clayed and two coats were applied (3 days apart).
