I am looking for a watch that I can wear to client meetings and for going out.

What do you folks wear? I do not have a firm budget at this time, but let's it in the 3 digits.

Thanks.

I wear an avg stainless steel all mechanical watch on a daily basis: Seiko and Orient makes them and you can have one for less than 100bux. Amazon and ePrey sells them on a regular basis.

They look very decent to me: I wear them to weddings, interviews, to work (every day), etc. short of taking them to swimming/diving.

I hate those big, over 38mm dia mech watches for they look so big and "bling"somehow (just me).

I like swiss made mech watches but most decent ones are so expensive nowadays (as compared to the days when swiss watches were decently priced).

I don't buy extra fancy ones just for the thought of being "exotic". exotic brands such as hublot, constantin-vachron, rolex, etc. are waaay out of my budget and sometimes you can get just as precision-made, polished movement watches from Japan, etc. for a fraction of the price.

My 2c's worth.

My daily (at least on days that I ever wear a watch) is a Acutron. Nice swiss watch, not too expensive. If I had the option I would purchase a Rolex. Nice to have something on your wrist that is always liquid.

Id go onto ebay and find a used all stainless Rolex datejust, or an Omega seamaster with papers and that was maintained. May be more than three digits, but its more of a keeper.

Otherwise, I dont think you can go wrong with a Seiko Kinetic that isnt too gawdy nor too plain...

I wear this. Citizen's MSRP is a little high. No, it's a lot high. It's available cheaper in Canada than it is at the MSRP, and I got it for roughly $200 from the NY watch store. I have absolutely no regrets.

I never wear a watch to anything anymore, Just dont see the point.

Unless you would wear it for bling and then it should be expensive.

Citizen and Seiko have some nice offerings in that price range, that's what I'd be looking at. Citizen Solar watches are very nice. You get them in Atomic models that sync up every night with Fort Collins Atomic Clock, and with a Perpetual Calendar in your price range too. You never have to set the watch, or adjust for shorter months, leap year, or DST.

13 years ago, I splurged at the Zurich airport before flying home and bought a Mondaine. The only maintenance is a battery every couple of years. No day/date to fiddle with; easy to read. Cannot remember what I paid, but less than current US prices. If I ever lose it or gives up the ghost, I'll save up to buy another one. If I want more "precision" or an alarm, sure. use the cell phone. Google "Mondaine watch" for lots of choices or go direclty to overstop.com and look for item 12695352.
Enjoy the search.

I have to agree with that. I've got little lady wrists, so I have to choose carefully or I'll look like I'm wearing a wall clock.

@123Saab: I can't go without a watch. I have an absolute hatred for cell phones, so that's not even an option.

I couldnt agree more!!

I wear my second gen Monster mostly, best bang for the buck!
I have nothing but Seiko automatics, I got 7 seven of them.
Japanese movements are on par with many of the high price stuff but at a fraction of the cost!
And big face watches look dumb, IMO!

I like luminox because of the tritium, other than that there's just so many brands out there, amazon does have some good sales sometimes. Try to get one with sapphire glass, the luminox i have has it and not a single scratch on it like previous watches i've had with mineral glass.

Check out ESQ swiss which I now think Is ESQ Movado I love my watch. Classy and sophisticated

Why pay 3 digits for a watch? I buy my at odd lots $7-$10 and have received many complements on their looks. Pay attention to the appearience of the watch band not necessarily the watch. The check out clerk offered offered me $50 for my watch last week that i payed $6.99 at Odd Lots.SOLD! Good thing I keep two spares in my glove box.
