Just curious because I have read MANY great reviews and UOAs where Valvoline Maxlife blend was used. I have used VWB in past vehicles and SynPower in turbos, with excellent results. Would you use Maxlife in a 10,000 mile direct injection Turbo at 5K mile oci? Not interested in other oils please, just your opinion on these two.

After reading many of dnewtons excellent posts, it makes you wonder...

DI and turbo... The Synpower is certainly the better choice, although there are other oils with a better NOACK that would be more appropriate.

It'll be fine. It exceeds Dexos 1 specifications, which account for turbo engine equipped vehicles like the Cruze as well. I would do a 5k run, UOA and then see how the oil is holding up. I would definitely give it a go though, especially since Valvoline oils have usually shown good resistance to fuel dilution, shear resistance as well.

+1

Synpower is a good oil, but IN MY HONEST OPINION Max Life Syn Blend is even better. Lower pour point, better additive, roughly the same starting TBN.

Yes that's all the scientific data I have. I've used Max Life off and on for years and both my vehicles like it.

Thanks zerosoma, this is sort of the feeling im getting after reading various threads where both are mentioned. Id never considered it before because of the hm moniker but their website says 'perfectly acceptable in new cars...'. Intriguing.
