Yes but the point is that the store should have multiple people trained in various tasks. Then again maybe everyone else was scared of the blade?

If you ever do manage to get somebody to cut wood for you, see if you can catch sight of the code they punch in to turn on the saw. Then you'll be set. I rarely rely on store associates to help me with anything because they don't know anything and they don't want to help. They are quite literally paid to stand around and suck up the oxygen.

Getting wood cut has become Mission Impossible.

Don't count on Big Box stores to cut wood in any sort of timely way if at all. Been there, learnt that.

No-it's an insurance thing. And it's common sense. If you go three people cutting instead of 50.....think about it.

This kind of stuff is hit and miss. My Lowes and Home Depot seem to be well run, clean and plenty of help if needed. My Wall Mart is the opposite, dirty, poor service and they spend more time trying to make you use self checkout.

Yesterday the Lady Friend and I went to Lowes for shelf brackets and wood to make painted shelfs.

First the shelf brackets. The ones Karen (her real name) wanted were supposed to have 18 in stock. She wanted 12. After the only helpful employed gave up trying to find the extra box with 12 brackets, she snagged the area manager. He spent 20 minutes looking for the extra box of 12. Another computer inventory malfarktion. Either that or stolen. He arranged for a dozen to arrive today and to hold them for her. More on that later.

Now the wood for the shelves. Went to the Cust Service in that area and asked for assistance. Noticed 4 people standing around doing nothing. Went to the wood to wait for someone to cut it for us. 10 minutes later I went back to the CS desk and again asked for assistance. Same four people standing around doing nothing. Went back to the wood cutting area. Another 10 minutes pass and still no help. Karen asked the Cust Service if there was a problem. She had no answer. Karen then proceeded to walk to the middle of the store and at the top of her lungs screamed is there anyone one here who can cut wood. Likety split a floor manager up front came over and asked what the problem was. The floor manager said the only person trained and cleared to cut wood quit earlier in the day. Apparently the CS folks didn't even realize the wood cutter quit several hours earlier. Is it ever going to get better. The clueless leading the clueless. We spent nearly an hour there and came away empty.

I don't understand why you'd need the store to cut the boards. Buy the planks you need, throw them in the back of your truck, and cut them when you get home. Life doesn't have to be hard....

I could slice and dice a sheet of plywood and be out before they realized anything happened. They're not paying any attention. That would require that they g. a. s.

Makes me happy I live in a small mountain town with no Home Depot or Lowes. I do have 3 old-fashioned hardware stores/lumber yards within 10 miles in 3 directions. I may pay a little more, but everyone there has a smile on their face, knows how to get things done, and actually goes out of their way to help you. I feel bad whenever I pick one store to go to because the other two are just as deserving of my business.

His friend had "uncontrollable shaking and almost a break down". (His words.) While I don't doubt she became upset-if she can't handle a day of incompetency at a retail establishment she needs to stay home.

I guess it's possible but not going to happen. I have a bad dominant shoulder and the only saw I own is not up to the task if you want them to look good. I may be the least handy person in the world. I feel good about myself after accomplishing an oil change. It all comes back to that we were willing to pay for their services, which they could not provide. So that is a fail.
