Was Geo really a "make"?

They didn't manufacture anything. The Metro and Tracker were Suzukis, the Prizm a Toyota, and the Spectrum and Storm were Isuzus.

I don't know that AMC was necessarily "cutting edge". They certainly had some unusual styling in the '70s with the Gremlin and the Pacer, they did implement the PRND21 shift sequence that became mandatory in cars, were the first to offer A/C standard, and introduced the tandem master cylinder. Those might be considered "cutting edge" but they were the last car company that had a flathead, they didn't really make a small car, they cut the back of a Hornet off and made a hatchback. They didn't make the Metropolitan either. BMC Austin made that. They didn't make a 4 cylinder until the mid '80s. They bought 4 cylinders from GM, Renault, and Volkswagen. As far as I know, they never had an overhead cam engine much less 3 or 4 valves per cylinder

But they are unique. I like that about AMC. I even like the Matador coupe and that is a weird looking car. But the '58-'69 Rambler years are my favorites.
I miss Rambler

I keep thinking that if a certain someone wins the presidency I'll have to buy a Pacer and drive around the white house a few times for the heck of it.

Agreed! Especially Packard. I've got an elderly client with an old one in her garage under blankets. Trying to negotiate a deal...

No love for Daihatsu?

How about Henry J? Just because a car doesn't have a glove compartment, passenger visor, or...you know, a trunk lid means it can't find love?

At least Plymouth got this before being put to death:

Did Olds get one last 442 before the axe? Nope

Did Mercury get a final edition Cougar? Nuh-uh.

No, the Prowler wasn't really good and yes it was short a couple of cylinders but it was something.

Yeah, some kind of ugly.

Plymouth had a lot of nice cars over the years - my favorite of the mopars.

when the made the Prowler they should have made the engine compartment long enough for a V-10, but just put a V-6 in. letting you swap a V-10 your self. they would have sold a ton of them. they just didnt think ahead.

I love them all up to the last I8 models in '54, though I'm partial to the 48-50 "tubs".
