Makes We Miss

Foreign: Austin-Healey and MG

Domestic: Mercury: I miss my '74 Cougar - same chassis as T-Bird, but my, what a real difference in style (they should gave stayed as distinctive in later years); Saturn: in that they were innovative at first, then GM screwed that up (Too Darn Bad)

As has been said: Pontiac(I"ve had several over the years, particularly my first 'NEW' car was a Grand Prix in1998, and three more GP's after that.
I've had a couple of Olds as well.
Nothing exotic, just ordinary coupes and sedans. I remember them all.
As I was growing up, I was a Ford man however. Fell in love with a 'Turnpike Cruiser' while in high school and after. Had a couple of Mercs I miss the most.

Changed over to GM while looking for a good used car back in the early 80's. Been there ever since.

Fond memories all.

I miss Pontiac and Olds. I'm not a huge fan of Olds and I understand why GM dropped the division, but Olds and definitely Pontiac were the two best divisions. Pontiac, and Olds from the later 80's through Olds demise, took a GM car platform and made it ride and handle better than Chevrolet's version. No one really cared about Buick really except China. So let them have Buick of China and keep Pontiac here.

I had great luck with my 1994 Olds 88. Enjoy isn't exactly the right word but it rode smoothly and was pretty trouble free for the 100,000 miles and 8 years I had it. It was my first new car. Out of the GM styling that was out when Olds folded shop, I like the olds styling the best. The intrigue and whatever the largest one was called were (and really still are) pretty nice looking cars.

That transfer didn't work out well for him or Pontiac.

I think Lutz got Pontiac, and could have made the marque back into something that befitted its history. But it was too late.

SAAB isn't dead...now that it has the funding to proceed I have a feeling that they will come back better than they have ever been ...GM was the worst thing that happened to SAAB.

Alfa isn't dead...they left the US market because of dealer network issues. They are due back in a year or two.

i miss AMC, they were cutting edge for their time which probably lead to their demise, consumers seem to want what they know and AMC was introducing new types of vehicles that were to out of the ordinary for most people.

Peugot. I've never ridden in one but know a guy who says nothing else rode like a French car.

Does Mahindra count? They got EPA approval on their $22k diesel compact pickup.

Not a single mention of Geo?! Hmph!

I had a geo for a while, it was a graduation present.

I'd still be driving it, if i hadn't gotten nailed while parked on the side of the road by a lincoln town car.

True, nothing in the world rides like a big Citroen. The hydropneumatic suspension system has also been used by Peugeot and under license by RR, MB, Audi and a few others.

I still think Pontiac would have fit into a modern day GM marketing plan and cant understand why they just let it go. And they had some great cars when they were shuttered, the RWD, solid G8 and the Solstice were both world class cars IMO.

I also miss Hudson's...but not the cars, the Store...lol.

Totally agree with you, They should have dumped Buick instead. (oops I mentioned this already)

I gotta say Oldsmobile. But I might be biased since I have two of them! I miss Pontiac too. They really had turned for the better with the G8 and Solstice but then they got axed.
