M1 5w40 TDT vs. M1 0w40

They have completely different lists of certs and approvals for starters........

They are designed for very different applications.

They function differently as well. I have used 0w40 in numerous cars, but when I found that 0w40 didn't tame the bottom end metals in my FX45 (an engine with a history of bottom end issues), I tried switching to the 5w40 TDT. Did a great job on the bottom end metals and I was running 15k OCIs with it. Ran the FX 155k miles before trading her in on a FX50s (which CANNOT use TDT). I would only switch from 0w40 to TDT if you had bearing metals higher than you want, the 0w40 is a great oil for most engines.

I was going to try Rotella T6 in the FX, but never got around to it. Do a search on my username and you will hit a bunch of 0w40 and TDT 5w40 UOAs posted.
