Is the Costco oil better, or is the Mobil 1 worse........ that is the question?
Either you're wasting money on M1 or you're not.

Or you are smart enough buy M1 when there is a rebateEither you're wasting money on M1 or you're not.
deleteWhat does D1 and G3 mean?
"We'll test them and find out!"Needs PF ice luge test to know.
Thank youI guess the other thread is right. Oil is oil.
As I said, I don't believe this report.First thing to catch my eye are the perfect mileage readings …
They must pull over and catch samples on the road shoulder
Oh, the irony. As I said, I don't believe this report.
OP: Please provide a link or it didn't happen.
And that's UOA's in a nutshell. There are many instances where you see consistent results regardless of oil in certain engines. This says more about the engine than the oil IMO.
If you were to change the scenario such as running these two oils in a turbo and compare deposit control, you may then see a difference. Or beyond 15k miles etc.
I think it’s the visual wow factor of a screeching and smoking contraption that, after all, results in an overall ranking of winners. Perfect for a traveling medicine show. The misuse of this tool by Joe Average as an oil comparison tool has many parallels with the similar misuse of additive screening devices and EP pressure testing tools for gear oils by charlatans for the same purpose.
Wondering how it can be funny without understanding. This is simultaneously funny and disturbing... I don't understand the statement, but thank you for keeping this thread interesting.
Do you believe it? And you know it is what I believe and what I would love to believe, but I won't cite obvious fantasyOh, the irony.
I have zero idea but it is on the same plain as there is no difference in motor oils.Do you believe it? And you know it is what I believe and what I would love to believe, but I won't cite obvious fantasy
I was gonna explain, but then I thought, nah.Wondering how it can be funny without understanding.
CheersI was gonna explain, but then I thought, nah.
Cheers
Completely agree. But then I wouldn't be using any oil in turbo application at 10K change intervals. My point was really that it looks like Warren used the M1 oil as a recipe. Also it might seem that at intervals less than 10K, the kirkland would be quite satisfactory. Especially since Costco has coupon sales periodically for $25 for 10 quarts. Just can't beat that. There are many instances where you see consistent results regardless of oil in certain engines. This says more about the engine than the oil IMO.
