Lubro-Moly Anti-friction additives

It doesn't appear to be a problem for you. The vehicle I am using it in sees between 12,000 & 15,000 miles per year. I typically change the oil 3 times a year. I did my first full bottle application, next OCI I planned on adding 1 ounce/qt of oil. After reading your replies I might modify my plans slightly. Maybe now I will add 1 ounce/qt for the second OCI and then a full bottle for the third OCI. By that time there should be tons of info posted about the product.

Compared to VSOT, how thick is this stuff?

You guys are making me want to go and get some just for kicks and giggles, but I know I have a bunch of other additives I need to use up before I "Need" anything.

I don't know if it is doing any good, but the compression in my WRX at 150k is as good as it was at 5k. To my wishful perception, the engine seems quieter, revs faster and the turbo is quieter. This comparison was based on the first 5k with no Lubro-Moly and conventional oil (surmising that the engine needed to break in and the LM-M-1 combo might not let that happen). At 5k, I switched to Mobil 1 and Lubro-Moly.

Then again, I was one of those suckers who ran Slick-50. That was in a Subaru Loyale wagon that lasted me 250k with no engine problems. Who knows?

I'd like to see some real engine oil analysis with the L-M, pre and post.

Many of their users tend to do a lot of driving on German roads, with free speed limits.
Don't you think we would have heard about it, then?

LM has been proven to work, by the millions that use it, every day.
This is in addition to the extensive testing they do with all their products.

I have never heard about any problems given, from any of their products.

Any used oil analysis on this stuff?
I haven't seen anything in the used oil analysis section.

Just curious as to your ongoing experiences with this product.

I would too. I'm using it now, sorry guys I won't bounce for a used oil analysis for my 93 Aerostar. I can say it is running well, seems to have plenty of power for an Aerostar. It is running a little cooler, and the oil pressure is slightly lower as I reported once before.

Look in this thread:

The top post was before I used MoS2; the 4th or 5th message in that thread shows the test when MoS2 was used and then another test later on, when some residual additive might have still been in there.

thank you,wow look how wear numbers dropped..

so a whole can of lm? how much oil?

That was a very good report. Have you tried it yet? I'm interested to see if you have any comments about cold starts, or any other observations.

The wear numbers were already dropping beforehand; however, I was very happy to see even greater improvement after using the LM MoS2.

Yes, that was 300 ml in a 4.25-4.50 quart oil fill. I think that was overkill, 150 ml with every oil change or even every other oil change would be adequate.

As mentioned earlier in this thread, I noticed no change in fuel mileage or engine performance.

I was thinking after the initial treatment of one 300ml can, I would use 1 oz/qt going forward, or using it every other OCI. This would be for a 5 qt sump. Which treatment do you think would be better?

No demarpaint still haven't used it yet, probably early this spring I'll have something coming due by then.

from your report Tornado Red it looks like a can to 5 qt would be perfect, then after that with the residue it'll leave be hind maybe a ounce to a qt would do it like demarpaint said.

i din't think 300ppm of moly was that bad in your UOA.

Thanks, seems we're all on the same page. I will do 1 ounce/qt going forward with my Aerostar. In the spring I will add a full bottle to my E-150, that is a 6 qt sump. Then going forward I will add 1 ounce/qt to that engine as well.

Any new news about this additive? I picked it up at Napa and would like to put in my 99 Camry 4 cyl to reduce some of the starting noises. While there, I also picked up Lubro Moly FI cleaner and valve cleaner. I recall hearing good things about them, they are packaged well in metal cans, they were relatively cheap and I am sucker for "good looking" additives :-)

Some report here where it is claimed that Moly stays around for a long time concerns me little bit though.
