Losing caffeine

Fresh from the can is OK. Best is to grind each shot of espresso seconds before you extract (brew).

I'm currently working on 6 blends: Caffe Fresco Ambrosia, Caffe Fresco Daterra's Reserve Espresso, Paradise Roasters Espresso Classico, Paradise Roasters Espresso Nuevo, Metropolitan RedLine, and Metropolitan Soldier Schweik.

All good. Caffe Fresco's stuff needs about 5 days to degas and comes into it best at day 8 or 9. Metropolitan seems to be good on day 3 or 4, peaking at day 7 or 8. Paradise Roasters is real good at day 2 or 3 and hangs in good to day 7 or 8.

I've had 3 double espressos between 5:30 and 7:30.

Grinding, tamping, extracting and drinking espresso. What a life!

Enjoy,

Jack

LMAO Andrews. You KNOW that ain't know weak watered down Denny's coffe ethier. I hate coffee with too much water/not enough grains in the mix.

Yes I know about tea. I prefer the taste of green tea, in particular long jin green tea. Which has some higher esters because it's not fermented as black tea is.

I always would bring a kilo back from China with me, and still have a green stash.

Lol, yep, probably as strong as coal tar! Funny though, just seeing those guys with a cup-o-joe in their hand makes me want to go downstairs and get another cup!

Things just go better for me with some level of caffeine in my system.

I will say this - 4 days cold turkey - then one small baggie in the AM and I couldn't get to sleep right away at night. Weird sh#t.

This AM I broke out the loose long jin. Dang it was good to feel that buzz. I'll sleep like a log tonight, because I worked my a$$ off today.

Well ..I'm on my 3rd BIG CUP of the morning (you only get 3.5 in a 12 cup pot

). I may make another if I don't switch to iced tea (one gallon daily consumption).

I keep thinking of the SNL commercial that I initially thought was a joke.

"You're the movers and the shakers! The coffee generation!". I kept having visions of people jumping out of their skin because of too much coffee. That commercial, I don't think, was aired on any other show.

I never realized how many hard core, zealous tea drinkers there are out there. I know a few people including family members that drink strong caffinated tea all day long. After trying some, they obviously don't drink it for the taste! I'm sure some of ya'll go for tastier stuff though.

Welcome back to the dark side, Pablo!

I'm a loyal coffee drinker myself. I've actually succeeded at giving it up for a couple weeks once or twice, but always ended up starting back up on decaf, then regular eventually. Now I go for more of a "controlled consumption" approach. I fill up my insulated mug at home once in the morning and get it refilled at Starbucks for $.64 once again in the afternoon. The mug keeps coffee hot for quite a long time, compared to most mugs, and has the effect of slowing down my intake compared to drinking it out of a regular coffee cup.

OK, all this coffee talk has gotten my cravings up. Gotta make my afternoon Starbucks run. Good thing we have one right here at work.

I drink tea like most people drink water! My Dad retired from the Army in 1993 and when he was in the field in Europe he would often trade coffee from the U.S. mess hall for Tea from the British!!! The British always had plenty of tea and were short on coffee and we always had plenty of Coffee but were always short on tea.

My Dad is so picky about his tea he carries tea with him were ever he goes. This way all he needs is hot water!

I have had the caffeine withdrawal headaches many times. Whenever I decide to break the addicition, I start that morning off with a good dose, but then no more the rest of the day.

I dont understand it but the process for me MUST be the steps of:
Stop caffeine in the afternoon
One more dose in the morning
Then I am fine.

No OTC remedies fix the headache if I dont follow that routine.

Whenever I tried to stp drinking the magic juice, NOTHING would rid my skull of the horrible headaches. I tried everything under the sun....non-prescription and legal mind you.
The best cure for coffee withdraw....another cup 'o joe!

My wife is pretty well hooked on caffeine and gets the classic caffeine withdrawal headaches if she doen't have her morning coffee.

Fortunately I can take it or leave it although I usually take it, lots of it.

I don't think it is really the caffeine that hurts people, unless somebody is drinking a very heavy amount of coffee. I think what hurts a person more then anything else is processed sugar. Personally myself I can sleep much better if I stay away from the sugar. Unless I drink coffee right before bedtime the caffeine does not affect me.

Of course, it probably does not hurt for a person to stop using caffeine. It probably is an unnatural substance in the human body compared to what people lived on for most of the history of the human race.
