This video shows what the inside of an Lexus engine looks like after 220k hard miles. I think you'll be shocked by what you will see, go to the 13:50 mark in the video to see the engine.
Would you consider taking the car to a race track hard miles? If so, they yes, this does have some hard miles on it.I tend to chuckle when people say "hard miles". Most engines are quite tough when kept within their normal operating parameters (rev, temp, maintenance). I find neglect to be far more abusive to a vehicle than the manner in which it is operated. (within reason)
I would consider track time less hard than neglect. I have numerous HPDE's and autocross events on my FRS, UOA's have been coming back with no surprises. So to me, track time is similar to a OCI with a lot of short trips.Would you consider taking the car to a race track hard miles? If so, they yes, this does have some hard miles on it.
Probably any API certified full synth from WM with a good filter and regular OCI is my guess.I'd like to know what oils were used.
That's highly probable, but this is why we're here, to discuss motor oil. We're oil nerds. We love seeing things like this and knowing what they used.Probably any API certified full synth from WM with a good filter and regular OCI is my guess.
How many of these YouTube racers do you know that do UOA's? Also, if track time = short trip DD, then we drive completely different. On a typical short trip on any of my cars I almost never redline it. But hey, to each their own.I would consider track time less hard than neglect. I'm genuinely curious as to the weight, brand, and oil change intervals.I'd guess it was Lexus dealer serviced and used whatever they pour. Probably 0w20 toyota syn.

I never redline on short trips. Ever. I am also not shy about burying the tach on track, or bouncing off the limiter if I don't have time for an additional gearchange. I think where our difference of opinion is coming from is that I do not think redline, or high RPM operation is that "hard" on a well maintained engine. At least no harder than driving it on repeated short trips where oil doesn't even come up to operating temperature. How many of these YouTube racers do you know that do UOA's? Okay, I see where we differ now. I appreciate the input.I never redline on short trips. Ever. I'm basing my opinion off of UOA feedback. YMMV.
