Where is your trunk lid? They stole that too?

Yes.

I had 2 35-packs of bottled water in that trunk. And a full tank of gas. Filled it up before I parked it, actually.

We will see if that gas is still there... the fuel door is still closed and the engine is still in. So...

Eljefino, I have a question... about a certain and specific kind of ignition cut-off switch, or "kill switch." It was on my parent's 1993 Chevrolet S-10 Blazer Tahoe LT. It was mounted close to the steering column, but had a blinking red light and you stuck an oval "key" into it, that had an end exactly like a 3.5mm headphone jack. This would then give you 10 seconds to start the car, before you had to do it again. I am looking for it b it cannot find. Does what I described have a specific name? Do you know what it is?

That's a dealer installed option, I've had them on F150s. I have to expect that bypassing them is very very easy.

The best kill switch is hidden somewhere dumb, like repurposing the "window lockout" switch, and kills the fuel pump so the car still sputters on leftover fuel and fakes out the thief.

I spent a few months in Newark for work in a very industrial part of town after hurricane Sandy. I wish I had a mounted 12gauge pump shotgun in my front console but alas I was disarmed and instead carried a Winchester folding knife.

I used to see a girl in Newburgh, NY which is another wonderful cesspool (Ranked 9th worst crime city in 2013 in the US). I used to park in a commuter lot and you could see the glass all over the pavement from busted out windows from the previous night. I had my 01 Saturn SL at the time and would pull the fuel pump fuse and hide it in the glovebox. It was easily accessible in the dash. I never kept anything valuable in the vehicle and the most valuable thing I had in there was probably my $75 SONY aftermarket stereo head unit.

My buddy has had his F350 stolen once, and his Toyota Tacoma stolen twice. The Ford came back fine, and the Toyota fine once as well. Second time the Toyota wasn't so lucky.

Won't be long and everything will be tracked electronically, especially if they start putting chips in peoples [censored].

Several years ago on the left coast a brand new Jeep was stolen while the owner was out of town so he didn't report it for several days. The car had a LOJAC unit installed. Several YEARS later the LOJAC system was installed in a big Mexican city and when it went hot the Jeep triggered the system at once. The guy got his car back, in very good shape, but with a lot more miles on it. The lowlife who took it either didn't know it had a LOJAC box or didn't care because there was no LOJAC where they sold it.

When I was at the shop I used to work at, I met this little old lady with a Subaru from out of town. She came in to get the oil changed and some other stuff- she told us that in order to start the car, you had to pull the multi function stick back (think flash to pass) while turning the key... My boss piped up an said "That's not right! You should have that fixed". The little old lady said "When you live in New Jersey, it's right..."

How long do you think it will be before you will have all the missing parts replaced?

Also, you should probably crank the engine over by hand to make sure there isn't any engine damage, or that they actually swapped your good engine with their blown one (hence the missing plugs and wires).

Did they say where the car was found at?

BC.

Hard to say.

You're lucky, I think, to get it back at all.

I would be concerned you now have a junk engine / transmission in the car, OTOH, I can't really see why thieves would go to the trouble to put anything back after pulling your good engine.

BC and Win: They found it in North Newark, NJ by Verona Ave. Very close to Belleville. Spanish/Puerto Rican land. Behind abandoned building. This was whispered to me by the yard guy... the other Honda I pictured was found, too.

BC/Win: The valve cover looks the same and nothing looks mutilated, simply removed (*looks at first glance.) Why take the time to reinstall some kind of garbage engine and trans.

The car just arrived at repair shop. Rolled very well. So no suspension theft... original tires and wheels..

The verdict is not yet in but it is looking good.

Thank God my spare steering column, from a 94 DX Auto - with key, no cruise, yes tilt - was in my HOUSE and not the trunk.

Oh, and by the way... Where can I buy another (it does noy have to be new just white or black) 92-95 Civic coupe trunk lid for my car?

Should I try to see if they "left it" where they hinted that it was found?

Is that the Pulaski Skyway in the background?

Check with wreckers/upick-it for the best price.

Sedans and coupes do not interchange.

car-part.com shows a green one for $60 in Andover and a white one for $70.

Do you have it running yet?

Probably had a junkyard engine put in it at one time before this happened.
