I had the original when they went upscale.. Guessing 1993 with a 5 spd manual. The early ones were smaller.

Went to dealer today. Was in the area. Seen two base model AWD.
Front fascia isn't as overdone as the SE launch edition
Cloth interior was very nice.
I actually got under them...bad back too..lol
The whole underneath is covered with that fibrous stuff and no cut out. It has to be removed to change the oil unless you cam turn the tire like on a Rogue???? Typical these days.

Mazda offers high quality interiors and are value priced. Cries on this board that promised the rust issues have been fixed don't fly by what I have seen.
Anyone buying them should get rust protection. Not expensive but more drama

The base models above should be had for $29k or a bit lower with incentives assuming they won't budge off MSRP much. So they are a few $$$ under $31k but have a few conquest deals and some money off..plus loyalty maybe

Funny I did watch this on my big screen TV...lol like 17 years old.
I have been watching these two for several weeks. I like Andrea but the dude is a ditz.
I agree with them.
The Kia looks like a Dodge Journey from Detroit and in top trim it can cost up to $10k more. Less of a warranty and less mpg. A Turbo is a option but not a real kick in the pants one.
The Kia does noting for me but im sure many like it.
In this round it was Mitsu for me

The Kia has 100 more HP and at least that much more torque. All the reviews complain about lack of passing power on the Mitsu. Have you test driven one yet?

Then there is the CVT transmission in the Mitsu which still gives me pause. Not sure which one is more risky: CVT in Mitsu or DCT in Kia.

Doesn't KIA give 10 year / 100K miles powertrain warranty just like Mitsu?

Less warranty...not according to your video. Also a turbo on the Kia. I have no interest in the turbo.
I drove a Rogue and your video did not complain about passing power.
I watched it all the way through.

Funny that was silver. Looks a bit gold in the picture. Their silver is more flat like paint as opposed to some that look like the polished metal.

Your video is Canadian and the Kia appears in the USA to match the warranty. So that is a tie.
But I have experience with Mitsu
and a turbo review vs n a. Is not apples to apples
The exterior Kia styling throws me back to year 2000. Not my cup of tea and the cvt??? ID rather replace that than a motor.. Kia Hyundai issues from the past.

I don't like the looks of the Palisade (or just about any Hyundai since the defunct Azera) but kissing cousing KIA constantly knocks styling out of the park. I don't get it.

Multiple Kia's in our family they have been great. Although I'd be leery of any 4 cylinder from Hyundai/Kia still not convinced they have figured out their engine eating issue.

Having not driven the Rogue nor the Outlander myself, I can't speak from experience, but the 181 HP / 181 lb-ft figure just sounds barely adequate, but who knows, maybe it is?

C&D says "Although the Outlander's acceleration times are competitive with other compact crossovers, it feels less responsive and lazier at highway speeds, which is exacerbated by its gearless transmission."

I understand not wanting a turbo. I've been trying to avoid one myself, although it's becoming harder and harder to do this these days.

Since I find the Outlander's front end styling vomit inducing, I prefer Kia's styling instead, but it's all certainly very subjective.

The Kia is quite a bit more expensive though if you option it with the turbo engine, AWD, and the digital cluster, so I'm not even sure why that Canadian couple decided to compare them.
