Well as the title indicates... I have been feeling lazy. I have really been procrastinating doing an oil change on our 06 Liberty. It has 18,300 on the clock and the last change was done at 13,100. I normally change every 5k miles, but for some reason I'm dreading doing the oil change this time. I'm currently using PP 5w30 with a Napa Gold filter. Should I motivate myself to change it this next weekend or should I drag it out a little longer?

BTW, 70% city driving....

i would go to 5500-6K then change it out. Do you get it on the highway every once in a while long enough to get to optimun temps and stay there for a little while to burn off condensation/fuel?

I was feeling lazy too. The weather was way too nice, 45 in febuary with 5200 miles on the oil. Out to garage, 5 qts of PP left, ahh. I'm under warranty so, off to the store I go knowing it will be 10-20 degrees next weekend.
THey didnt have Penzoil Platinum 0w20 in the 5 qt jugs, but did have the 5w20 Mobil 1. I always used mobil 1 for years, so I got that.
CHanged the oil, cursed at the oil filter cartridge design and skid plate design(07 tundra v8 5.7), and mixed 5 qts m1 with 2.5 qts of PP. Never did it before(mixing), I'm sure it will be ok.
I didnt feel so lazy anymore after this.

Synthetic oils of any base stock are supposed to last longer. Why run syn oil the same oil change interval as dino oil ?

The oil should have plenty of reserve to cope with your laziness to-date and plenty more. I'd imagine 7500 miles would be plenty conservative and more would probably be fine.

With your Jeep under warrenty I would change it out at 6K. This is the max OCI for your vehical year. After your warrenty expires 7.5K for PP should be no problem.

Dreading changing the oil, you need therapy. 2500 miles and Iam salivating, even with synthetics, I lay awake at night imagining all that black oil in the crankcase with grunge and diluted fuel waiting to attack and sieze my engine bearings at sunrise. i started running synthetics in both vehicles, but I know Ill never last 5,000/6 months so who am I kidding.
