Just curious, you're using LAT, LG Biotech, and Redline Oil? If so, you have high levels of Moly! Not saying that's bad, but RL has something like 700+ppm Moly doesn't it?

I will probably add a full 12 oz. bottle of this to my next winter change of RL 0W-30, or RL 0w-20/0W-40 blend.

I also want to try a bottle of the HyperLube ZRA stuff in that change, but someone on here posted that it seemed to gel/'polymerize' when they put it into solution with an off the shelf synthetic oil in a clear glass jar (forgot the details now).
So I am a little concerned about that mix.

I promised I would post here, so here it is.

I'm sure the OP had nothing but the best intentions in mind. I just feel it needs to be pointed out that a few claims from the butt dyno and a 1 MPG bump in calculated MPG shouldn't even be enough to raise an eyebrow. Do we have anything more solid to work with here?

Just to make sure this is clear, I'm not asking if you went to the trouble and expense of hiring a qualified independent lab to conduct the test and analyze the results. That would be silly. I'm just asking to see if you did anything to see if a difference of 1 MPG really stands out from the normal variation in MPG, make sure the results weren't a fluke, rule out other possible causes, and so on.

actually it is 2 mpg..which i think is impressive that an additive made that much difference.no i don't have anyone do tests on anything..all is what i observed and learned..all real time..

My apologies for getting the number wrong. The point is that it still could have been due to chance, normal variation, or simply a fluke, no?

i keep track of mileage every fill up all documented and it stays the same avg. mpg...since i added the lat, mileage improved in all three vehicles and running cooler..my driving habits never change.iam easy on my vehicles....no other additive ever came with this results and i tried them all throughout the years..give it a try and see what you think...curious to see others experience

what makes me really comfortable about this product lat lfr its not pushed to the public...its for the professionals as mentioned above.so its going to be made with absolutely very best additives....no snake oil!!

Thanks, boxcartommie22. It's so refreshing to see someone who doesn't get defensive when questioned.

what are the long term effects of high moly in the engine? I though I read somewhere that there is a reason that there is low amounts in diesel oils, because it was bad for internals of a deisel engine. Is that correct, and is there any problems from long term use in a gasoline engine?

that i don't know...i know red line has 950ppm mine has about 1275ppm not much higher..i would think the mos2 would be detrimental in high amts then the organic moly..i have not everheard of such i claim...

after doing some searching this morning, some moly additive manufactureres recommend not using it in diesel engine because high amounts can cause copper corrosion.

Quote:
Note: Since oil formulations vary it is recommended that upon the incorporation of any additive the finished product be tested to confirm original test results. In some formulations, the presence of MOLYVAN 807 may contribute to copper corrosion which would be detrimental to some diesel engines. Therefore, its use in such lubricants is not recommended.

Also noticed that if oils used moly, they also used corrosion inhibitors. what happens when someone uses an additive to an oil that doesnt have any corrosion inhibitors?

I wonder if these additives could actually excelarate wear on an already worn engine...

I think I will just stick to plain jane motor oil that has had thousands of hours of testing and research done to it before it was brought to market before I start making my own concoctions. I will leave the blending to the ones that know what they are doing.
