The product sounds very promising, I'm a bit concerned about the zinc too in newer engines that don't need it. Biotech Engine Protectant contains the same type of moly less the zinc. I wonder how the two products would look side by side in a VOA?

that would be interesting!!actually to inc the zinc by 200ppm is not that much to be worried about..i only use 6oz.i already have enough zinc in my oil from the red line..and the same for moly...so i fig inc moly 125 ppm and zinc.100 ppm

I would like to see a VOA as well. Maybe I can get my hands on a free kit from my Schaeffer's rep?

I really like Biotech, but the price is up there. I noticed for a quart on LG's website it's now approaching $30 w/ shipping!

I agree Mike! I stocked up on it when I was able to get a good deal on it. If I can't find a deal on it when my stash runs out, I'll probably stop using it, and continue with MoS2 in place of it in my E-150.

How would we accurately figure the pre-dilution ppm levels of a bottle of this stuff??

Their head techie/formulator/tribologist refused to give me that info when I asked.

(Which seems a strange thing to try and keep 'proprietary', as Torco is more than willing to tell you this about their additives.

he told me 1 12oz bottle raises moly 250ppm and zinc 200ppm..lubegard wouldn't tell you either..we already know the values of torco mpz posted on here..torco never told me what the values were.. i figure lat has more then mpz of moly...mpz has no zinc but loads of phos...so its good enough for me what he told me...mpz is not a synthetic additive..lat is.

I've heard of several folks, transmission rebuilders too in the past, using Lubegard products.

Then again, a lot of pro's are tied into racing, not always interested in longevity of daily driver apps. Define who the "pros" are, meant in a non-sarcastic way.

i meant the pros at the mile high nationals..the statement i made about lubegard bio engine tx.(which i love)was just my opinion...if its good for the pros for protection then i am for it either dump the oil or keep it in...iam always looking for something better..i will learn as i go along..like to know whats in all this stuff.i always use lubegard red in all my trannys..

I see where you are coming from. Good deal and +1 for sharing your experience here as well. I'll be curiously observing.

Did he mention the long conversation I had with him yesterday??

(I DID mention this site, that's why I asked.

He seems to know an awful lot, but I still think that Dave at Red Line has forgotten more about lubrication/tribology than this guy will ever know, or at least Dave can explain it better, and understand what the customer is asking about in the first place.

Anyway I ordered two bottles from CB performance (the site suggested by another Todd- THANKS!!) for 11.95 each.
I will try some in my next late fall OCI with Red Line 0W-30, or a 0W-20/0W-40 blend.

I would love to try their oils (or Motul 300V/Torco SR5), but the price points are just over that line where I think it's "too much" ($$$ wise), just as most on this site think that I am currently using an oil that is "too much", in both price AND what is necessary.

The LAT owner also said/admitted that his oils are probably NOT as extended-drain worthy as even a Red Line street product (I will go up to a 10-11K mile OCI on RL). He was saying not much more than 5000 mile OCIs due these being pure race oils with almost no detergents, and a fairly low TBN.

i want to correct soemthing else lat uses grp2 carrier so it mixes with everything and does not fall out it is a organic moly...something in mpz moly and all the phos in that product time and time again falls out of suspension....they tested several types of moly and found the type that works the very best..all this is what the owner told me..he also told me lat is coming out with their street oils...red line still rules as far as oils are...you got it cb performance? wow!with the shipping and all i pay 19.95

Yes, he also told me they use a Grp 2 carrier in the additive.

Are you sure that the various Torco additives do not use a soluble, organic moly (I was under the impression/thought that their owner told me that they DID!)??

I paid only a little less than that from CB Perf. as it was $38.00 for 2 bottles, BUT that was with Priority Mail shipping, not standard ground UPS/USPS. I guess their handling fees are more than others?

It would be cool if the LAT street oils could be price competitive with Red Line's street oils, while offering fairly high TBNs, calcium, boron, some antimony (although I got the distinct impression that the owner HATES antimony, and NOT just because of the cost

), a slightly higher percentage of Grp. 5 in the basestocks, as well as a big dose of their organic/soluble moly.

yes torco does use a organic moly but for some reason it reacts with the high phos.and drops out.this is what lat sees in the racing oils when he use to use mpz..also the tech is very old!!torco hasn't upgraded mpz for many years..

danny said their street oils will be api approved and a grp 4pao...i would only use red line motul..i use that as a mix.4qts 5w20 red line and 2qts.motul 300v 5w30..
