Yes, it's hard to justify Edge at around $10 a litre when GC is under $7 a litre.

The one thing I'll never forget about GTX was how fast my wife's old Neon would burn through it. It never went through any other oil that fast, even ST did better. (headgasket was on the way out)Always wondered why....

I saw on line some where,when people tried to run these cars hard,the motors just dont take it. Let`s get one thing straight here before all of the Peon lovers get on my case...It`s just my opinion. And I know people that owned them,and were not real happy.

the gas station i worked at in the late 70's early 80's sold GTX.it was twice the price of the gulf and independant products on the shelf.was it worth the price?i doubt it.in fact it fostered a dislike of the product that exists in me to this day.
i just had the oil changed in my wife's vehicle and that was the only oil the shop had.i was not happy about it ,but was in a hurry.so in it went.and it will get dumped as soon as it hits about 5 k.

Some will probably disagree with my analogy, but castrol gtx is to motor oil what orange frams are to oil filters. They are not bad products in my opinion, just overpriced for what you get. As I mentioned earlier, $15.50 USD is simply too much for 5qt's in my opinion. At around $11-$13 USD it's not such a bad deal.
Subject is GTX. Not EDGE, GC, Syntec or such.

All I put in my 2006 s type sport jag is Castrol GTX...once a year or 16000km is what the dealer calls for. I change it every 4000km..takes 6.5 liters and total cost incl filter and having the car checked over from top to bottom is $55..oil hardly changes color between changes....not sure if that means anything....I do use this oil cause thats what the book says to use...but so far so good....best car I have owned.

GTX pricing has been up just recently. It used to be about $10 in WM. It is one of the best dino around.

Yeah I do but I'm using that for the Cabriolet and eventually for my Santa Fe when I feel it has done its duty and doesn't need a synthetic anymore. Or when it starts burning oil. Or I could just keep it because it was a good deal and I don't want to use it ever, ever, ever!

I have no problems using it. Although it has been over 2 years since I have done so. Paying nearly 4 dollars a quart for conventional when I can get other conventional's for 2.50 a quart. No thanks but I will use it when I can get a good deal on it.
I, myself, prefer, either Valvoline, Motorcraft, Quaker State, or Pennzoil to Castrol. However I have a mechanic, that I trust, who changes my oil with Castrol Synthetic Blend products, if I do not provide the oil and filter of my choice.
He will change my oil, and oil filter, in my Nissan truck, with the products I provide him for a small labor charge instead of changing the Nissan with Castrol which he recommends.
If I go with Castrol, again, I will have some fast lube place change the oil in my Nissan. It will be cheaper, supposedly. I don't like fast lube places because they don't seem to "listen to me" when I tell them, "Don't Mess with the Air Filter."
I think I will have to "Watch the Lube Place" to make sure they do not "mess" with my air filter.
