no... they ordered a quantity of 600 units.. with 429 units on the road today of the police interceptor package ordered in 2011.. I thought the same thing when I read the title!!A 2011 Crown Vic is supposed to have a 4.6 modular in it. How'd they manage to order them with vintage 429's?
The article touches on that....I bet in the real world, cops like the Ford Explorer better.
stating that the Crown Victoria remains the top choice with older members of the force.
"Tenured deputies who have driven them for the majority of their patrol careers still prefer them to the Ford Police Interceptor Utility, which is also in use by the Department, while newer deputies seem to prefer the Police Interceptor Utility."
My friend loved the CV over the Caprice. The Ford's are better built and are easier to replace parts from wrecks/pit maneuver. As a State Trooper he had some great stories! Went back to Marines; got tired of it after awhile. I think those Ford's are ugly, but it's definitely a workhorse.
I like mine fine, but would take my old CVP over it in a heartbeat.I bet in the real world, cops like the Ford Explorer better.
Not the same engine, the 429 AKA the twisted hemi and different than the other 429 engines for built.
