I traded a used pickup bed and rear bumper for this yesterday. It runs fantastic and the engine date shows it to be only 2 years old. I will have to replace and rewire the ignition and starter controls as they were cut off but it pull starts fine. Trying to decide what oil to run; it will live on my farm service truck and be used year round. Here’s what I have in my stash:

Schaeffer 700 15w40
Schaeffer 9000? 5w40 HDEO
Schaeffer 9000 5w30 PCMO
SuperTech 15w40 Synthetic
SuperTech 15w40 conventional
SuperTech 5w30 HMFS
May have a little Kendall 5w30 and some P66 10w30.

This is my first Kohler so I’m not sure what’s “best”.

I've used it ok for summer use would not turn in my pump at 0F qt jug is frozen solid in the barn.
Interesting, where I work there are 10-15 piston compressors that we just use non detergent 30wt in from the local parts store. Maybe I’ll look into that. Schaeffer 158 is good but I think it’s only available in 5+ gallons.

5w-40 in engine, and see about schaffers or amsoil for a synthetic compressor oil for the compressor head. Pick and oil that you can change often as if you are using this out in the field it will moisture in it.

I have a surplus of Schaeffer 158 ISO 46 compressor oil at work, any thoughts on using it in the compressor year around?

I’m betting that unit specs a ISO 100 or 68 minimum and in heat of summer I think you’ll need it. Below 32F it may be a good option but for sure would monitor temperature.
