Keeping my old honda civic and want to try Valvoline R/P

Take the valve covers off and the oil pan if you can. That's where are the residual gunk will be. Then clean those up at the very least.

Does R&P *really* clean the guts/moving parts of the engine or does it break loose deposits in the sump and eventually send those to the oil filter?

I mean, I get this fascination about pulling dip sticks and making the OMG face for your YT video cause all the varnish is gone, but not a single engine ever has benefited from a cleaner dip stick. Just sayin.

Trade in value of the 2006 Civic is about 800.00 bucks. Street value who knows probably not much more.
When I traded in my 2006 Civic coupe for my 2016 Civic coupe in 2021 they only gave me $400. But I got a fantastic deal on the 2016 ($11,400 Canadian ($8000 US) Even almost 4 years later I’m seeing 2016 Civic coupes in my area for around this same price or more.

If it ain't broken, don't mess with it.

Instead of spending extra money on oil changes with fancy oils, buying an OEM valve cover gasket and a tube of Hondabond sealant will be a worthwhile investment. Needs valves checked around 200,000 anyway.

The R18 is a great engine. You can look at the stories online of people going 500k+ miles with these things.

Need to read the big long VRP thread to have more insight of what it's been doing for people.
