I havn't been out there in a year, but a super K-mart in our area actually had a GOOD car section. Lots of different fluids, additives and cleaners... even some fancy stuff like Lucas.. I don't use it, but it's usually only seen in auto parts stores.

No more Orange box filters... It's all Purolator and PureOne... !?!?!?!

It seems that Sears has had a positive influence on Kmart. They had good quality wiper blades, and if I ever needed to fix a car at 3 AM, it's open.

I prefer shopping at kmart to target (overpriced) or walmart (just disgusting) if Im going to a discount store. The kmarts by us have mostly closed, but those that havent dont really have a great chemical or oil selection.

For a midnight car maintenence run, This Kmart Supercenter would fit the bill. There's enough stuff there to chainge the oil/filter, air filter, clean the air intake, freshen the coolant, and clean the injectors. It's all stuff i'd be willing to use.

Prices on the oils were OK.. not spectacular... they've got a house brand that's API-SM... 3.17/qt.... not a rip-off.. I'm used to paying about 3.50 a qt. regular price for conventional.

We have no Kmart in Irvine, CA. There is 1 in the next town about 10 miles away. I hadn't been in any Kmart for more than 10 years. Auto parts section of local Target has almost nothing, 2 of the 3 Walmart stores nearby has much fewer selections now than few years ago.

I used to get a lot of stuff at K-Mart, like tuneup kits, cap and rotor, etc. This was as recently as the late 80s. I think this stuff is all gone now.

I totally forgot about that!! Wow, what a flashback... Alot of AC Delco stuff, spark plugs, wire sets, etc... Then they had alot of Champion stuff. The good ol days..

When I first started driving in the mid-'70s, my K-Mart in Lafayette, LA, was THE place to go for car stuff. Oil, filters, air filters, all sorts of additives I probably didn't need, spark plugs, you name it. Now . . . There's one about 3 miles from my house, and the auto section looks depressed and dirty. Four-year-old quarts of oil priced the same as SM stuff (no kidding, I saw them).

If you have a good one, patronize it as much as you can. We need alternatives to W-Mart.

Yea, confused by that too. lol. Around here, it's generally the otherway around, the customers rude, dirty, and unfriendly.

My local WM has many "mentions" at the particular people of walmart.com lol.....sad.

Kmart is seriously overpriced, if they price matched with walmart, they would get out of the biz. walmart has better auto selection, give them the cred bro.

This!

Having recently moved from Texas to the Northeast, I am suprised how the K-Marts stay in business? My only guess is that they outnumber the Wal-Marts due to "Wal-Mart is evil" mentality that ensues around here and keeps them out.

I've gone to Kmart before for oil and filter...but I have found them to be way overpriced compared to Advanced Auto Parts. An oil filter (Purolator) at Kmart is $8 when it is $3 or $4 at AAP.
