Honestly didn't know there were any left. I wondered through one maybe a decade ago I happened on in VA just because. Growing up there was a K-Mart in the bigger town over - going was a big deal.

End of an era.

"The store, in Bridgehampton, New York, on Long Island, is due to close October 20,"

"The chain still has a small convenience store version of itself in Miami, but not the full line of offerings that Kmart was once known for. That location does have some larger ticket goods, though, such as appliances. It also has stores in Guam and the US Virgin Islands, where it does not face competition from more successful big box stores."

I had a garage filled circa mid-2000s with all kinds of oils I got on clearance from my local K-Mart. I miss the oil clearance sales, but not K-Mart.

Bridgehampton is a serious money town the rich play there probably the reason it survived not much places to buy normal day to day stuff there it's all high end designer stores

Soon it's going to be just Costco, Sam's, Kroger's,, and Dollar general.

Don’t count on Costco either………

All the Costcos I pass by are always jam packed. They chose their locations well, affluent neighborhoods with growing families. I noticed a decrease in foot traffic at the other grocery store by me when Costco opened up a few years ago.

Normally. I’d totally agree with that.

But then I see people some affluent folks doing some real shopping at Dollar Tree is kinda telling……

The Kmart near me closed years ago. Towards the end they had almost no staff and the store was a ghost town. I snagged 40 quarts of Mobil 5000 for 79 cents a quart. The cashier thought I was nuts. My grandma worked nights at Kmart for years. Good memories.

True; DG has popped up in some surprising places where I wouldn't think they would normally be at. Here by me they've been taking over former Family Video stores.

I'm not sad at all about kmart disappearing. Home Country Buffet on the other hand....I miss :(

Same. Schmidt oil, or Smitty oil? Something like that. It met latest specs. My in laws Camry got it for several years worth of oil changes. Car still running today, so must have been okay! I think I got a ton for like $1 a quart.

That and actual video stores. I'm sick of streaming. With streaming you don't own anything.

I visited the last mini Kmart 2 years ago and posted a thread with photos.
This Kmart is located in Miami (Kendall).

In a few weeks I will be in the area and make one last final purchase and pay my respects.

Sad to see them go. K-mart was awesome way back when, when the automotive section was actually a whole section with shelf after shelf of oil, filters, etc and K-Mart had their own automotive repair center. As said above, this was a long time ago. The big, super nice K-Mart in my area turned into a BLowes about 25yrs ago. There were a few that hung on a bit longer, but hanging on was an understatement.
