It's hotter than Death Valley here

Nothing beats a 115 degree day in the desert! I like when there's a nice breeze and it feels like a hairdryer blowing on you.

That sounds about right. Obviously weather stations are shaded.

I was thinking maybe the World's tallest thermometer in Baker.

yeah, any scientifically designed and reputable weather station has specs on that sort of thing..
2 meters off the ground and in the shade as well as separated from certain other environmental factors go into it temperature readings

sometimes temps are measured at 6 meters...

I know the topic was intended as a literal comparison of "feels like" temperatures, but when it's stupid hot, I prefer the expression "hotter than a tin outhouse."

Our 10 day forecast, thermostat set to 79* terrible coming out a cool house to that blast of hot air that hits you in the face when you go outdoors. 🥵

It amazes me how mild the coastline of California and the PNW stay in the summer, especially SF and further north. Crescent City, CA will hit a balmy 61 degrees tomorrow 😅

Even in SoCal, the beaches are only hitting the low to mid-70s this week. Of course, you don't have to go far inland to add 20-30 degrees to that.

Common sense has taught me to get my work done starting at sunrise on very hot days. Some do it the hard way.
