PP in a heartbeat. The TGMO is waaaaaaaayyyyy over rated. Probably the same hype as the "green castrol" hype. Really silly if you ask me. Besides I can't wait until all of the monkeys doing 10k OCI's on the TGMO are back at the dealer crying about sludge. PP 5w20 and 5000 OCI and your CRV will go 2-300k no issues and be clean and quiet.

Pretty bold statements in this post. Care to back up your expertise with exactly WHY TGMO is over rated and WHY you are assuming that it's such a poor oil that it will cause sludge? It's also interesting how you can predict a CRV will go 2-300k miles by just using PP. Oh, and what's with the 'monkey' comment?
 
my 1996 Lexus LS400 V8 has 125K and is using no oil to speak of. I do a mix of city and freeway driving, but probably more freeway than most folks, up and down I-65 @ 75mph

my car specifies 5W-30 or 10W-30 at my choice. (it can get hot in Alabama!)

my OCI is 10K or so

I like the idea of lower startup wear & better fuel mileage, but I want as quiet of an engine as I can get (luxury car for hauling around cute girls!)

Is the TGMO 0W-20 a good idea for my situation or not?

That's a good question. To answer it you need a real oil pressure gauge that shows pounds and a real oil temperature gauge.
Then you have to find what the oem considers minimum pressure and find out just how hot the oil will get in service.
If you can achieve the oem's minimum requirements when the oil is the hottest it will ever get then you have found your answer.
Or you can see what those temps are with the oem prescribed fluids and note oil pressure at varying rpm increments.
Take that info and compare it against the thinner fluid and note the differences. If those differences are within the oem's allowable tolerances then I'd say you are good to go.
Install a temperature regulated oil cooler and I have no doubt you can use it and be just fine. If the oil temp never increases enough to compromise the fluids hydrodynamic layer then the parts are as well protected as they would be using the thicker oil at higher temperatures.
That's my take on it anyways. I could be wrong however one can see how I deduced the answer.

If you check out it's PDS info you'll see it has little in common with TGMO plus the fact that it is not an API approved oil.

TGMO is a much more suitable oil for your Honda.

Lexus has not back spec'd TGMO or even a 5W-20 for the LS400, just the 5W-30 grade.
So as Clevy suggests you'll have to go back to basics (that means making sure you can maintain adequate OP) to determine if you can safely run the very light TGMO.

Since you don't likely have an OP gauge in your car I'd stick to a 0W/5W-30 synthetic oil but choose a very light one.
In an OTC oil that would be Havoline 5W-30 or if you want to get fancy try the Sustina 5W-30 which has a 194 VI.
Another option would be to run your own 200 VI 0W-30; that's a 50/50 blend of TGMO and M1 0W-40.

I'm not big on API certs but I would never recommend to the owner of a new 2013 Honda that's still under warranty to use a non API oil and quite frankly either would Amsoil.

Aside from that, yes Amsoil ASM 0W-20 is a "good oil" but it is at the heavy end of the 20wt range while TGMO is one of the lightest 20wt oils you can buy.
Honda specifies a light OEM 0W-20 for the 2013 CRV consequently TGMO as I said is a "much more suitable oil" for this Honda.
One benefit will be maximized fuel economy.
 
I am pretty sure i am going to use TGMO 0w20. i plan to do analysis on every oil change. really interested to see what the FF is and how well the TGMO holds up for me.

my dilemma now is leaving the FF in longer. i have close to 6K on it now and its killing me to not change it out. the OLM still says 50%.

I would think 6K is long enough on the FF.
If you want to stick with a high moly oil which the FF often is, then go with the Mazda High Moly 0W-20 instead of TGMO, atleast for the first oil change.
 
see how confusing this is for me. now you say Mazda high moly. lol
how does Mazda compare to TGMO ?
also a lot of others have said to leave FF in until 15 - 10 % OLM. even stated the 2012 owners manual specifically said not to early drain it although 2013 does not say that anymore.

FWIW i have already bought 6 A01 oil filters.

Sorry!

The only reason for not changing the FF out early (other than being a potential waste) is that the oil is "special" and by special most refer to a high moly level.
That's why I suggested the Mazda High Moly 0W-20 as an alternative to TGMO. This oil is very similar to TGMO but has a higher moly level similar to the FF oil. The downside is that it is generally a bit more expensive and not as readily available as TGMO.

Are we splitting hair here? Yes we are.

I hear you, I just did my first oil change on my Accord, I did it with 4k miles on it and 60% on the MM. I could not stand it. The manual said leave in to 15% on the MM. That would have been 8500 miles or more, I just can't do it. I'm used to changing the factory fill after 1000 miles back in the day. There is no way in [censored] I'm leaving the FF in for 8500 miles. I changed it using genuine Honda 0w-20 full syn. I've got 2 cases of the Toyota 0w-20 for my wifes Lexus, I'll probably switch to that when the Honda oil is gone.
 
I ordered some Mazda high moly for my first change. Will probably be around the 7k mile. Then will use TGMO after that. Who really knows if its the best but I really think that's a good plan.
