This is a email I found on a Tundra Forums. It is a bit dated, nearly 3 years ago. Its an email pertaining to an Amsoil study claiming that the Moly used in RP is causing Cummings engines to fail. I am more interested in RP's denial of using Molybdenum Disulfide. Here it is...

This particular Amsoil Dealer many years ago made it a habit out of bashing other people's products rather than selling his own. This was a letter put out by a unscrupulous Tech Manager for Amsoil many years ago. David Canitz, Royal Purple’s Senior Tech Manager called Alan Amatuzio Jr. and had it removed from the Amsoil Corp website as it was false information. Unfortunately, the 'independent dealers' have not pulled this false information and Amsoil Corp doesn't have the 'stones' to tell them to stop. Rather than get lawyers involved, we just keep writing emails such as this explaining the truth.
RP does not contain any molybdenum disulfide. RP does contain a synthetic molybdenum as part of a purchased automotive additive package from one of the three largest automotive additive suppliers in the world. We use this package along with about 200 other formulators. Amsoil got it to look like we used Molybdenum Disulfide by starting with “Molybdenum Disulfide” or (Moly) should not be used. Then they say they found Moly in Royal Purple oils. The consumer assumes it is molybdenum disulfide and that is how we coming back to this question.
Cummins does not recommend molybdenum disulfide - that is correct, but David has had 3 Dodge 3500 all with Cummins motors and two of them have seen over 300,000 before the sold them.
The Motorcycle white paper test was conducted by an Amsoil lab along with the new Gear oil test. If you go to Mobil 1, Castrol and Pennzoil you will not find the 4-ball wear test. This test is only used by Amsoil for motor oils and it is not even designed for motor oils
Here is the link to Mobil 1 answering this question- Response to Amsoil Competitive Claims
I hope this helps.
