Royal Purple is good oil. Mobil 1 is good oil. Amsoil is good oil. is good oil. All in the correct application. XPR? Do you really need a race oil?

Unfortunately, the 'independent dealers' have not pulled this false information and Amsoil Corp doesn't have the 'stones' to tell them to stop.

That is totally false. This AM I reported the site above to Amsoil. Mid-day I received a response.

Paul,

Yes, this is old data that AMSOIL INC. does not support. It will be removed.

400 and 500 HP stock vehicles use Mobil 1 (and can use other street oils). You're exceeding that output?

Moly TDC is a great multipurpose additive used by many oils on the market. I believe Schaeffer was using it first, others later followed. In fact, Amsoil jumped on board eventually and started using it.

Thank You Buster

That depends on several factors. What engine and what mods (briefly)? How much HP?

This is one incident I have spoken of that turned me off of Amsoil in the past. I have been called a liar for saying this happened. Glad to see someone else bring it up and back it up.

Hate to get this bandwagon going again but, ive been desperately searching the web to find pictures of engines that have been pulled apart after royal purple use, or test results, etc, to see if it actually is worth the 8-9 dollars a quart. I know I have seen alot of information saying how good it is, but before i throw it in my newly built engine, I always am CERTAIN before i use a product. Anyone have any information like this? What would you guys suggest.

interesting fact, royal purple is API certified despite what some of the forums are saying

To the contrary. The cams were in like new condition despite some 30K of hard use as I recall. The Mobil 1 cams shown in comparison at least visually did not fair as well.

I have no pictures to show you but I have run RP for 2 decades and have torn down engines run on it and they were in great shape( torn down for upgrades or because they were at the max # of runs at the drags not due to failure ).

There is no best oil out there but RP is one of the top ones available. It is very good oil. Use it and don't worry.

Oh, and btw, $8-$9 a qt is too high. Go to their web site and use the dealer search feature to locate the different sources in your state and price shop. Try online as well. I am lucky and only pay $5.75-$6.50 a qt through my local source but I have other ones around and the most I ever pay is exactly $7 a qt.

ill probably be buying it by the case through my alarm guy at like 5-6 bucks a quart, question though, has anyone ever run any chemical testing on their max atf tranny fluid? My transmission is full of it now and although I cant be certain but it seems that my average coolant temp has gone up since the full change ( tranny cooler lines run through the radiator). While this could be more cooling system related I was wondering if anyone has had any beefs with the tranny fluid being either too thin or not.

I have never heard of "any" synthetic tranny fluid causing an increase in temp. The opposite generally occurs. Lowers trans temp so thus it would not raise coolant temp.
