Yeah they're starting to add those in suburban areas, places you would never even consider having to pay for parking! It's insane! And don't get me started on the "resort" fees.

Disagree all you want, but that has been my experience. Are you gonna call me a liar now? You and CNK must be buddies...Plenty have people have experienced higher prices but that's not what you said.
Incase you forgot already I have this handy quote here:
You didnt say "I couldnt find a room downtown" or I couldnt find a room 5miles out.. or I couldnt find a room during taylor swift's concert ..... you said:
Which I and many in this thread... disagree with.
Right which means you are failing to do something that others are doing that arent having that experience.Disagree all you want, but that has been my experience. Are you gonna call me a liar now? You and CNK must be buddies...

What areas do you find this issue . I have been visiting different colleges around New England/NY and a little in Fl and amazed at differences in prices. A cheap recent one was Syracuse NY , $135/night for decent place floored me as I pay $100-$150 more per night typically. The cost of motel rooms has gone beyond ridiculous. It's gotten to where you can't even get a flee infested dump for less than $200 a night. This is one area where prices have gone up far beyond the inflation rate. WTH is driving these insane price increases? My wife and I love to travel, but these prices make traveling far too expensive...
so basicallyIt was obvious to me the original post was using hyperbole in order to prove a point. You seem to be struggling with this so I'll help out.
No, he didn't mean the hotels literally have fleas.
No, he didn't mean the hotels were actually at dump sites.
No, $200 was not meant to be used for every possible destination and situation (although it could be true depending on the location)
For whatever reason you are missing the point and want to argue very specific details about a post that was never intended to do so.
Was that before or after Starwood was hacked? Before Starwood was owned by Mariott, they offered their employees "starhot rates" and even had rates for friends and family called "starfrnd". Not sure if it's still a thing now, especially with the way things are...
A rate that was normally $250 would be around $77 for employees or $95 for friends and family
I used to stay at some beautiful European properties, some worth $800 a night for $88 (the highest allowable rate).
They also gave 50% off food and beverage..

Most hotel companies give employee discounts based upon availability. Lots of rooms = big discount. Not many rooms left and no real employee discount.
My family can get the same discount I do. And I can get friends a discount but not as good as employee.
You apparently aren't reading the posts in this thread because others have said they ARE experiencing the same thing.Right which means you are failing to do something that others are doing that arent having that experience.
or you are wildly exaggerating and yelling at clouds your normal complaint post style... or you live in the twilight zone.
Question: is wildly exaggerating actually lying? You said you couldnt find a motel.. which includes super 8 and red roof inn for under $200
not sure what country that is in?
This might be the first time I ever agreed with CKN as he lives on my ignore so I dont see his posts much but I went back and looked after you mentioned it.
I dont have a problem with you but you might consider a name change from Grampi to Grumpy.
He knows all of this, he's just being facetious...It was obvious to me the original post was using hyperbole in order to prove a point. You seem to be struggling with this so I'll help out.

Numbers and specifics aside, there is no question room rates are ridiculous...Nobody is experiencing the “flee (sic) infested dump” for $200. Nobody is agreeing with “insane”.
Prices are up - but your hyperbole/rant stands alone. Most of us are still traveling, and we know what is being charged. Most of the posts here are offering various explanations, but nobody else is in the “I am staying home” camp with you.

Definitely there is a certain "troll vs. troll" element going on in some of the posts! You must be new here...
This is a a typical post by the OP. A rant on whatever irked him in the moment, and then arguing with anyone (usually nearly everyone else) that they are wrong.
