Im really impressed with Taylor Swift gives out 55 million in bonuses at the end of her tour

Not a fan, and in my opinion she's the product of excellent marketing instead of raw talent, but a good person is a good person. If she's really helping out her team and is charitable in general, she's good by me.
She's credited as a writer on every single one of her songs and as a solo writer on over a hundred.

You don't have to like her music but to say she doesn't have talent is bogus. She's a powerhouse.

All I know is that she switched from country to mainstream pop and there are a few songs in her catalog I like. In reality, she is somehow super popular yet there are a lot of singers with a better voice that never make it in the music industry.

Sure. There are a lotta super talented guitar players out there that will never make any real money at it.

Coupled with her rerecording masters from her previous albums so the Investment Firm that owns then now won't make a dime on them. She fell into the trap of losing rights to her own music but chose to fight back instead and make newer recordings slightly different to keep them her own. Smart woman....

Pretty much every successful band or artist has done this. Can't blame 'em either.... Bands in the 70s, 80s, etc typically got a few pennies from every dollar from their album sales, then that was split amongst the band members themselves !

Some other singers don’t have to looks or commercial ‘push’ and radio play.

Look at Miley Cyrus, not the best singer but she had lots of push by dad’s buddies in music industry.

Fifty-five million reasons why this is a terrible take.
hmmmmm…

So this is why I’m not impressed:

She is supposedly worth $740M according to Forbes, and is on track to earn $340M just this year.

If she gave away $55M, it’s 7.4% of her net worth.

If someone is poor as a church mouse and has no real net worth, and tithes 10%, they’re giving more.

If someone with a $100k/yr income but no net worth gave away $7.4k, would anyone bat an eyelid?

If someone with a $340k/yr job and $740k net worth gave away $55k to their university or something (happens all the time) and would only be 16% of their income, would anyone make a PR statement?

So it’s all because it’s TS, and all because it’s a level of money that most people will never have.

But in reality in relation to her net worth and income it’s not much. Nice? For sure. Better than nothing? Absolutely. Changing the life of many of these people? Yes. But anything beyond a PR stunt and tax write off for Taylor, Inc.? Dubious.

As far as PR is concerned , this is barely a blip on the radar . A week from now it'll all be forgotten in the press . She can release a new album and get PR for months .

Fifty. Five. Million. Dollars.

Given to actual people.

There's nothing negative about it. I'm sorry that you don't feel it was enough. Whether it was a "PR stunt," as you so cynically put it, is irrelevant.

This is just like when Mr. Beast paid for the surgeries of 1,000 people so they could see. Do the motivations really matter when so many were helped?

I wish more people did kind, life changing things "as PR stunts."

I dunno.

I am non-blood relation to her first producer before she went pop. I knew about TS from early on. Wasn’t a fan, was aware. Heard a lot when they won big awards.

The last album? Was it 1989? TBH haven’t heard since. Yet I saw this in the news all over… and then here.

Sorry, it’s just that the math doesn’t work out to it being that huge of a dent in her pocketbook to really be huge. But I’m an engineer and go by numbers.

Yeah. I don't get why anyone would want to be cynical about this.
