Im really impressed with Taylor Swift gives out 55 million in bonuses at the end of her tour

Not a fan, and in my opinion she's the product of excellent marketing instead of raw talent, but a good person is a good person. If she's really helping out her team and is charitable in general, she's good by me.

Jeez. Some interesting takes in here on an extremely successful person with more money than a small country trying to do something nice for the people who support her traveling circus. She should have considered how being generous would make her look so terrible in some folks eyes and not have bothered. What nerve she has.

She fully supports causes that, in my opinion, are 100% completely destructive to our country. She's about as far out there as you can get. Was it nice of her to give all that money to her crew? I suppose. But if I was making literally millions upon millions of dollars....it wouldn't be a big deal to give away thousands.

Whatever anyone thinks of her, including me, she just changed the lives of over 80 hard working people for the better.
I don't know the tax ramifications, but I can tell you you can legally gift $15K per person per year; above that you pay gift tax. I imagine her accounting firm will help, but who knows for sure?

A perfect example what happens when a person gets to the point where they think they have more $$ than they'll ever need.

It also helps that this particular tour has broken some records (ex. $1B in ticket sales)
Isn't she more or less trying to rake it in now while shes the hot ticket? The way the music industry goes won't Taylor Swift be old news in 3-5 years replaced by a newer younger idol? I'm surprised she's still relevant at this point. Personally the music industry is at fault for part of this. If anyone here had a friend that went through that many relationships you'd be tired of hearing about it. Yet lets have some blonde chick sing about it then bam platinum albums.

You don't believe in capitalism ? She didn't have to give those workers a single penny above their regular pay.
I don’t get your point. It has nothing to do with capitalism.

I questioned her intentions, and the fakeness of it.

I mentioned the fans who go around with “be kind” shirts, indicating that this “kindness” appealed to her fan base.

I mentioned giving more because I suspect that much of her fan base would also advocate for more rich folks paying “their fair share”, thus why only $55M? Im sure she’s asking for the tax write off from those giveaways… but any more on that would become a P discussion.

Is it nice that she gave it? Sure. Any time someone gives their labor and means away to someone else it’s nice. Now, in this case it wasn’t really a pure hearted gift. More like a tip, since these folks are the brawn and brains behind netting her hundreds of millions of dollars in show ticket sales.

When she gives $55M to someone who didn’t do anything for her (NOT saying the truckers didn’t deserve it), I’ll be marginally more impressed. Especially if it’s for something that I agree with cause-wise.

I'm sure she did it just to impress that JHZR2 guy on BITOG

That matters how? In someone else's opinion your views 100% destructive to our country. You're about as introverted and crumundegioned(sp) as any one man could be!

If you made 5 million dollars in one year would you keep it all or give it all away? I mean it's your money you don't have to but if you wanted to. I'd consider you a really nice guy. I consider you a nice guy if you just gave away $10,000 to someone who needed it.

It's called empathy and clearly there is more a lack of that in people who have way more influence in our daily lives than a musician who makes people happy.

AutoTune can make anyone a singer.
Don't really know how well she performs live, because I haven't sought out any videos, and I certainly haven't been to one of her concerts. She must have something to have this many fans. Vocal talent may not be as important to her fans as the ability to put on a "show" . Beyoncé proves that can be the case.

My idea of a singer:

She's been in the business for around 15 years so I don't know if she's trying to cash in. Seems she has been cashing in for over a decade. ;).
