Im really impressed with Taylor Swift gives out 55 million in bonuses at the end of her tour

Folks need to comprehend, yourself included, that there’s a difference between it being “impressive” and it being a nice move. The thread title indicated that OP was “impressed”.

From a numbers perspective, it isn’t impressive. My case of a person who is poor as a church mouse tithing 10% to me is more impressive because it’s a bigger percentage and affects their life more than someone worth nearly a billion dollars.

This impressed? Meh. Go give away 7% of your net worth Taylor. You’ll never spend it all. Or give back to your fans who spent obscene money to enrich you and had to deal with Ticketmaster and everything else.

Never said it was not a nice thing or not a great thing to do. It’s just that relative to her worth it’s not that much. Numbers don’t lie. Doesn’t mean anyone is jealous or bitter or whatever else. I agree at least she’s giving it.

I don’t think I deserve anything or that anyone owes me anything. I certainly don’t expect a handout or “bonus” from anyone. It’s great that she did it. It’s just not impressive. Go by the numbers. Look objectively at the percentages. A small percentage of a staggering number is a big number. So what?

If she had given away all but $340k, a huge wage for 99% of the country, then I’d be “impressed”. I’m as allowed to be unimpressed as you are to be head over heels over the move.
To you it's not impressive, I think we get that, to me it is. I never denied your right to be unimpressed.

We are now down to pulling numbers out of the air such as 7% really? Did we see her tax return or something? No sense answering since we both agree we are allowed to be unimpressed or impressed, correct? Do I need to follow what impresses you? Sorry but my answer would be a resounding no.

It's enriched the lives of many people on the tour by tens of thousands of dollars. Typical bonus would be closer to $10,000 she gave these truckers $100,000
55 million is more than any entertainer gave in history, even favorites of your own. So call it fake but it's very real to the families of the employees of these companies.
The tour didnt take in billions of dollars, closer to 1 billion if that.
Absolutely. Whether her heart is in the right place or not, who are we to judge and what she did was amazing.

Note: she was born in Reading PA. thats PA "Dutch" country. The name "Swift" is German. Hard working, honest people to a man/woman.. Its in her Genes. Hard some would be able to criticize that.

I am PA. Dutch (German)-I know what I am talking about.
Yes I don';t care for her politics..thats America though.

Hard working, check this out, family member just sent it to me.

Forbes said her net worth is $740M and that she’s on track to earn $340M or something like that this year. It’s the simplest google search to do. Nothing out of the air. Simple. It took longer to cut and paste links than to find it.

You don’t need to follow what impresses me. Nor do I need to be impressed by this. That’s been my point. I’m not impressed. @RooflessVW can laugh at that all they want. It’s just plain not much for a near-billionaire.

My family hails from the same area. So? I donate >10%. So?

She knows which side of the bread to butter. Without the road crew, the show doesn't go on.

Agree. And this tour is bringing in a $Billion dollars.

If someone went to a restaurant and tipped the staff 5.5%, they’d be called a cheapskate.

That’s more or less my point. Not how great it is that the staff is getting money.

If she gave it all away you'd find some issue with it.

You just come across as bitter. ✌️

Donating 10% of your income is not the same thing as donating 10% of your net worth. Unless of course every time you buy an asset, you're donating 10% of the asset value. Also 10% on the appreciation of said assets.
I agree. It’s simply a point for this ridiculous conversation. Someone else made a comment about others donating their own money.

Folks can swoon over TS all they want.

I think it’s kind of cheap given her massive wealth, income and money this tour is bringing.

The title was “impressed”. I’m not impressed. Simple enough. Others can swoon over it all they want, lacking the comprehension that there’s a difference between being impressed, and the action being a nice move.

Bitter? Really? I look at numbers. Numbers are objective. Not bitter. What do I have to be bitter about? That I didn’t earn her money? I wasn’t planning on it before this news article. That I didn’t get a tip from TS? Wasn’t planning on it.

And I’m thankful for those truckers and tradespeople who do this sort of thing in a lot of hard scenarios. Which is why the objective numbers basis didn’t strike me as “impressive” which was the original post. I don’t know why that’s so hard to comprehend. It’s also why I’ve tried to depict percentages. Because the relative value becomes more obvious when looking objectively at the numbers.

Nothing more, nothing less. Carry on.

I see your point and agree. Some people are just enamored with her. Odd, but typical of a certain mindset.

Do all country musicians need to be from the south?
From the south? Absolutely not.
But "country" implies from a rural area, no matter what region. There are rural folks all over this nation, and other countries. To be "country" most certainly means you didn't grow up in the posh suburbs of Philly, that's for sure.

And yes, she did play up her supposed country roots; most all her work until recently has been on the country charts with a few cross-overs.

In my mind, she's a country fake.

She moved to or lived in Nashville since she was an early teenager, if I'm not mistaken. And if she's not "country" or is "fake", well, that says more about the country music fans who fell for it !! 😂

But wait, Nashville isn't "rural".... 🤔 We could class a whole bunch of other country artists as fake then too. Vince Gill, Luke Combs, Jason Aldean, Keith Urban (New Zealand, not even 'Murica!!)....

So explain how you get 7% please which since you are answering I am assuming but maybe incorrectly that your the one that came up with the 7% number. I would just like to know the math you used, if it was you.
Not sure what your reference is to her income, did anyone question that? I haven't
Your numbers are convoluted... If Forbes is correct (and ummm... I doubt they see her income tax filings either) she is most likely giving away, lets pull a number out of the air since that is what we are doing... maybe giving away 20% of her income for the year and we already know she gave away 17% or so just on this tour alone.

I just hope all the naysayers in here are giving in their lifetimes what she does in one year.
How many kids have everyone in here volunteered in a children's hospital? Education centers, soup kitchens.

How many gave to WONDERFUL St Judes for children, you dont even have to lift a finger except to go online and give 10, 15, 20% of your after income to a very worthwhile cause

Actually it's pointless to discuss, its just out of the blue numbers like manufacturered news void of fact, no matter the subject.
I think we know you think she is cheap, but I guess she knows something many in here dont know being the highest grossing performer, in like forever. :)

As I said I dont listen to her music but to call a giving person like this as cheap, well, I think ....
