Now I know where the chicken in my wife's McDonald's Premium Grilled Chicken Club Sandwich went.

We get to the table and her sang'wich has the lettuce, tomato, mayo, bacon, and "Swiss" cheese-like square. No chicken. The very word that describes the sang'wich is missing.

Then the trained teenage monkey at the counter wants to argue with me. All I want is the freakin' chicken and this guy wants to argue with me. Like I'll steal a chicken patty and demand another.

Same thing happened at Taco Bueno. I ordered 9 items. They present a tray with 8 items on it. The guy at the counter said, and I quote, "Not my problem." The person that made the order said, "I made the order right."
"No, there are only 8 items. I ordered 9." display receipt
"I made it right man. You did something to it."
direct eye contact, low and quiet but stern voice tone "No, you did not make it correctly. This order did not leave the counter. It is missing one item. The tacos are all here so it appears to be one of the burritos."
"No way dude, I made it right."
slow and deliberate "I need to speak with your supervisor."

I hear her shrill voice behind the counter describing me as various crude anatomical parts located below the waistline. The manager comes out with some burrito of unknown origin. It wasn't made in the usual prep area in plain view.
"Here." was his only statement.
"I'm not eating that. I want my money back and I'm notifying the health department that you attempted to serve me food that was not prepared in the proper food preparation area."
"Fine, here's your money back. Now leave!"

Still haven't heard back from Taco Bueno's corporate office on that one. Apparently their lack of professionalism extends to thier corporate officers as well.

I never take them to task for making a mistake. I have issues with their unwillingness to correct their mistakes and the rude way I am dealt with when they make the mistake

Yes, they are getting a low-wage. I understand that. I worked at McDonalds once. No part of my minimum wage job was to argue with the customer. If a mistake was made, it was corrected promptly. Apologies were made. Free hot apple pies were added if it was a substantial mistake.

Plus, I could do elementary school level math and properly make change. My drawer was almost always balanced to the penny.

What I can't stand are people in front of me ordering their hamburgers plain, no pickle, or something like that. It's not a gourmet restaraunt. Lift the bun and take it off.

I know, I know, it's rat food, but it sounded good and it's the first "bad" fast food I've had in a while.

Around here they make $9 an hour AND get benefits.

Yes, that's not livable wage.

It's more than I make.

That's absolutely ridiculous. Especially when Burger King's motto is "have it your way".

How do you make ends meet? $18k gross (or $15k after taxes) will require very creative methods to survive.

So do I. Every time I drive past a fast food place I see them waddling in the door or sitting inside eating what the fast food place is trying to pass off as food.

Local BK was less than ideal, but they have the Veggie Burger I like. Staff routinely has visitors, and the one ahead of me placed a diapered child on the counter. I asked if they would clean the counter off, and the employee shot off her mouth, "OH WE HAVE A PROBLEM!". I was served and while sitting, the staff made a loud issue about (my) car, parked in the rear of the lot, but taking up ~two~ spaces, that they announced that was going to be towed or to call the cops (lol) or whatever. Needless to say, I contacted corporate, told them what happened, that the manager was weak and that the kids on the staff ran the place.

I got a modest apology, no offer of a free burger or anything. When I go now, I go to a different BK then the one only a few blocks away. It's clean, run well and no poop diapers on the counter. iirc, I called Health Dept too.

I don't know, I live very well on alot less than that.

The way I have it figured, you need to take your kid to CrackDonalds once or maybe twice a month, let him eat those horrible spongey "chicken" nuggets, apple slices, get a cheap toy, and run amok in the kid-size hamster tubes.

If you make him stay at home and eat only the healthiest of organic whole grain vegan nonsense, then when he moves off to college he or she will subsist on a diet of only McGriddles and Dr Pepper for their first whole year.

I've seen it happen.

Kinda' a motivation to do something else besides serve burgers your whole life, eh?

Obviously true if one has the opportunity and ability to do so.

Sorry, I can't let this one pass -- what's the price-point where mistakes become unacceptable?

I worked at one of those low-dollar jobs for a time being (at a home-improvement center, but still), and I never took the attitude that since I was only making $8.50/hour with no benefits, it was acceptable to do a crummy job.

Like what? There is nowhere near enough good paying jobs out there for everyone even if they have the skills. There was a time when people could make a living and a career working at a grocery store. Anyway, I haven't personally ran into too many rude or dumb service workers. I know they are out there and rude is much worse than dumb IMO.

People live on that here.

Around here, $15,000 is still real money.

Agree %100. Because it is low paying does not mean these service people have the right to be rude to customers or not know how to count change.

I've had mostly positive experiences with fast food staff. I wish I can say the same for the support staff (ranging for the IT folks to the secretaries) at my company. They are mostly compensated very well and they leave a lot to be desired.

Totally agree with that, my wife is a proof of that.
As soon as she was free of her crazy mother she did some stupid things for a while before getting some reasoning going on.
Always let kids have what they want... in moderation, explaining them why there is moderation on these specific items (and not on vegetables and fruits).

Best way to get sick of fast food is to work in one of them for a while. That is what my friends who worked at McDo during college told me: After few weeks serving them and eating them while in break, you just cannot see another one.

They may not make big bucks at McDonalds, but they are way overpaid.
I could not consistently make those mistakes even if I tried on purpose. Idiocy and or lobotomies must be job requirements.
