I love barter...Traded Honda for a Kia.

How's our favorite Korean transportation appliance doing 🤔
Keeps performing the daily duties for now.

I'm convinced that its AC system was meant for a minivan, as it freezes out its occupants regardless of outside temperatures. Highest it's seen so far is ~95F.

Otherwise it's not burning or leaking any oil.
Drinking fuel at a rate of 24-29mpg, about like my xB did with a 2.4L, and this one is 1.8L... eh.

Gave it new pads/rotors/shoes. Still gotta bleed the brakes. Brake fluid is dark, so likely very contaminated...

Swapped the driver side CV axle, and now the passenger side is binding, so that's next.

Aesthetics are unchanged for now, but it will likely get a splash of "rally" thrown at it. I am tired of dropping into it and then crawling out, it's too low. So likely will give it a 1.2" (30mm) strut spacer lift, some rally mud flaps, and some cheap eBay livery.

I am at construction sites a lot recently, and I really enjoy how well this thing goes off the pavement. It's fun, despite only FWD. When $100k lifted F350 or Sierra go around a mud hole or puddle - I now make it a point to let them see how this nugget KIA goes through stuff they chickened-out on in their pavement princess trucks. It's good old fun, The Dukes of Hazzard style. It's nice not to care about paint or scratches.

Kia Sephia will be a Kia Rallia.

This little car surprised me. It did SO well!!! My main daily is still down, but this beater KIA performed the daily duty without complaining and saved me some money in the process. Oh and AC in this thing was amazing.

Nice little beater, and now it's off to another owner. Because I fell a victim to another barter deal... This time it's the Ranger Danger. Watch out for that ⚡TwinSpark⚡

I'm so late to this party.
I'm affronted that such a storied, wonderful chariot can be labeled 'ghetto'.

Go to the 2nd picture in post #2....see the temperature gauge on the left?
We're talking tattoo worthy, emblematic art here.
...and the cassette player....I howl with envy.

It's a good thing I don't own it....it's so 'pure', I might just give into the urge to drive it into some butthead's vehicle.

Yet another certified hood classic from @Graham Piccinini 😂
The new vehicles gonna need its own new thread, lots of pictures 🤌
If it's the EEC-IV with the 7 pin underhood DLC like I think it is, I'll ready you up a nice OBD1 scan tool setup

... you're gonna need it 🤔

Also, when it comes to engine controls/sensors
ONLY 🗣️ MOTORCRAFT 🗣️ PARTS

Currently some minor hesitation is felt occasionally. Seems like most people experienced it, and jumped straight to 8 spark plugs, wires, and ignition coils, but no improvement. So I think I'll learn from their mistakes and just go straight to Ignition Control Module.

Disaster struck.
2 miles after leaving from work the clutch pedal lost resistance, and therefore no longer had any effect on the rest of the drivetrain.
I still had 30 miles to go, so from then on I had to rev match it by ear (no tachometer on this '93) and coast as much as possible for traffic lights. Think old school grain truck shifting.
Did have to come to a complete stop a couple times. That required DIY Stop&Go system, where I shut down to stop and restart in gear when light turns green. Thankfully the starter is healthy and battery is decent, it worked and got me home.

A quick inspection at home revealed that the slave cylinder inside the bell housing sprung a massive leak. So at this point it would need a new Master & Slave cylinders and a Throwout Bearing, as it is part of the Slave cylinder assembly inside the bell housing. Fun stuff. Thankfully all of these components come in one package from O'Reilly's at $220. Must be a common issue...

Checked my schedule, and it's pretty packed for next six months. So rather than let the Ranger sit until I'm free to work on it - I just passed it on to another gear head.

P.S. Somehow I'm still ahead moneywise with this whole barter saga. It was fun, in its own way. I'll try again later, but likely with slightly higher budget. Although junkie beaters are fun, not gonna lie...

I haven't been paying attention to anything before the Reflex

What is your daily?
This is usually what you're signature field is for
2009 Pontiac Vibe, base model with the optional 2.4L. Got it from original owner who spec'ed it that way. It was his highway car, so no oil consumption on that 2AZ at 165k miles 😁
