I guess Black Friday didn't happen?

I got up early to do some shopping. My first stop was Harbor Freight @7am. I was expecting a crowd.

I pulled up and was able to park right up against the building. I was expecting to park on the street! Nobody in the place except me!

Then I headed to WalMart. I thought "Wheres all the traffic?". Again the parking lot was empty. I walked in and about 6 Walmart employees were waiting to help me. Place was like a ghost town.

They did not have what I wanted so I had to go to a 2nd Walmart thats by our mall. Our mall is always a disaster. Same thing, hardly any body there and I was able to park right up front.

Got done with that and wanted to check out a couple of Pawn shops in town. Not open yet!

Absolutly strange for a Black Friday

All the crowds were out at 9 PM last night at Target, and at 10 PM at Wal-Mart. The wife dragged me out after dinner just to observe the madness. We didn't buy anything at all.

Black Thursday happened, many shopped early & got it done

Wife's sister sent a pic early this morning of lines all down the sidewalk at Marshals. I've gone a couple of times to see how ridiculous people can be (I've seen ladies shaking the fence in a mall after Victorias secret failed to open on time,) but work has been busy lately, so I opted to sleep in instead!

Same for me. Nothing special. My first stop was Ace Hardware @ 7am. I parked in front of the door and thought they were closed. I got out and tried the door and it was open. Got me a 1.5qt slow cooker for $3 after rebate and a free tape measure. Next stop was PepBoys. They were crowded, but they had lots of oil and filters. I was expecting my filter size to be sold out. They also had a lot of Mobil 1 0w-40 and 0w-20 boxes on the floor. Walked across the street to Harbor freight and they were lees crowded than they usually were. I wanted to get a 24mm socket, but they no longer sell individual sockets. Next stop was Walmart. I drove past Autozone, but didn't stop. They looked empty. Got to Walmart and the parking lot looked normal. Got inside, and it wasn't crowded. I picked up 2 jugs of g-oil, paid and left. There was no lines. I asked the check-out person if they had been busy, and she said most of the people were in before 5am. I stopped at the gun shop and saw a few guns I would like to have if soemone would give me the money to buy them. They had a short-heavy barreled Mossburg bolt-action .223 that uses AR-15 magazines. K-mart was a joke. Target, Toys-R-Us, Home Depot looked vacant.

I think part of the reason is that Black Friday Harbor Freight sales are nothing that you can't get at other times of the year so why bother. In so far as the other stores, I can't comment.

Didn't seem to be TOO many more people than usual at any store I went to thus far.

Maybe they did like me, and just shopped online?

Pep Boys wasn't busy at 6:30 AM for their big specials.
Went to two of them and saw clerks standing around looking for something to do, very few people in the store.
One store said no on Mobil 1 Advanced Fuel Economy for $5, another said no problem.
Go figure.

A lot of the deals this year really wern't that great anyways. I went in Walmart last night 1 hour after they opened. They had 4 pallets of 32" Emerson TVs going for $148. You can get this same TV for around $200 all year long.

Parking lots were crowded but not over capacity at all. I agree that the Thursday night stuff probably attracted a lot of those folks away from today's deals.

I was not impressed by the sales myself judging by the info on slickdeals.net. Looking forward to the cyber Monday.

I have a feeling the sales #s are going to reveal that the reason ya'll didn't see as many people out as usual is because there is a pretty severe recession going on at the moment.

If anyone has seen that vid out about the people in Walmart fighting over those $3 waffle makers, it just makes me shake my head at what society has become with regards to shopping. I refuse to take part in the mayhem. This time of year is supposed to be about being thankful, family and associated beliefs...now its chaos.

Internet is where its at for deals for me these days. I never have to leave my home and you can still get smoking deals if you are patient and selective.

All the credit cards were maxed out BEFORE 7:00 AM this year. The Peoples Republic of China is again happy!

Sales figures so far look like it's an increase over last year. You may want to adjust your "feeling", since it didn't take the thanksgiving day early openings into account.
