How old is your current and last car you have owned. What was your oci, and mileage when you got rid of your last car?

My most recent:

Current: `96 Ford Contour, 130K, every 3000 until just recently when I found oil samples.
Old: `80 Dodge Ramcharger, 120K, every 3000 even though with the leaking/burning the oil that was in the truck never reached that age.
Old: `90 Pontiac Grand Am, 170K on the Quad 4! Every 3000 with Mobil 1.

My most recent car that I bought for myself (1999 VW Golf TDI) is just over 5 years old. My oil change interval is 10,000 miles and my mileage is 117,300 miles.

This car replaced a pick-up truck (1996 Chev. K1500) that I kept for exactly 3 years and 11 days. It had approximately 62,000 miles on it when I sold it. It got the oil changed at 5,000 mile intervals.

Last - '90 Cherokee, 98k. Only had it for one oil change, previous owner changed the dino oil about every 10k. Still ran great.

Current - '96 Cherokee, 195k. Again, only had it for one oil change, last owner changed synthetic every 6k. Still runs PERFECTLY, and doesn't burn or leak a DROP of anything.

Current is a 2002 Ranger 3.0 with 29,000 miles and a 3K dino interval. Last was a 1997 Ranger 3.0 with 68,000 trouble-free miles at trade and a 3 to 4K dino interval. FWIW, before that was a 1992 Ranger 3.0 with 138,000 trouble-free miles and a 3K dino interval.

My current car is a 95 Firebird Formula that is going to click over 100,000 miles this morning on the way to work! I now use 6200 mile OCIs (10,000km)

My previous car was a 97 Grand Prix GTP which I only had for a year, and it had 62k on it when I sold it. I ran M1 5w30 and 10w30 in it, changed every 5k. Before that I had a 98 Firebird Formula that ran nothing but M1 5w30, changed every 3 to 5k.

My wife's car is a 2000 Civic with 50k on it, I started off running M1 5w30 in it, and did 6-7k intervals, but that was when I was it's only driver. Then she got her licence and took it over. Now I use 5k intervals, and am currently running GC in it. The car that it replaced was my 95 Escort GT, which my sister bought new and sold to me two years later. It always ran M1 5w30, and was changed every 5000 miles. It had 50k on it when it was sold.

I go through a lot of cars. I'm only 34 but have owned 15 different cars now!

A 1965 Chevy pick up that gets it's oil changed every six months. I had the truck since 1972 and plan on keeping it. And a 1998 Jeep Cherokee that is currently trying yearly changes with Amsoil.

Prior to that I had a 1993 Dodge mini van with a 3.0 and 130,000 miles. Valvoline every 3K. Ran great until I crashed it.

Current car 95 Honda Civic 200k bought brand new, 3-4k OCI 5W30 dino recent switch to Mobil 1 with 6k OCI

Previous Car - 1988 Jetta GLI 16V - 150k miles when sold - OCI was 4k miles on dino 15W40 or 20W50 per manual

Driving a '95 F150 with 108,000 miles. Previous truck is an '84 F150 that I sold in '99 with 175,000 miles. Boss owns it and now has over 200,000 miles, in spite of his running the oil that was in it when I sold it to him for 25,000 miles (he's not sure if he may have changed it once in that 4 year interval, but I saw the oil filter was rusty when I gave him a jump a couple years ago).

Im like you patman, I love to get to have a new car.I usually try to break even and most of the time i do after tags and title.
So it doesnt really hurt, i just like to try and drive different cars.
My last car was a 1995 mazda millenia that 140,000 when i sold it.I drove it for 2 years fixed some body work and broke even after putting 30,000 miles on it.I always do 7500 oci with dino.
Tell you what Id never own a mazda again, becuase parts are hard to find and very exspensive.

Currrent car: 93 Pontiac grand Prix LE, 3.1 V6, 243,000 miles. No problems, mostly Mobil 1 5W30 (and 0W30), few times Pennzoil regular 5W30, and about 30,000 miles of this also on Amsoil 5W30, but mostly (and presently) Mobil 1 5W30. OCI's 7,000 miles.
Before this, an 86 Cadillac Sedan Deville, sold at 265,000 miles and still went over 300,000 miles, Mobil 1 10W30. OCI's 10,000 miles.

Good Day,
Steven

1997 Toyota Rav4 76k: wife's daily driver. We just got this vehicle so I haven't changed the oil yet...I'm probably going to have a 4-5000 mile OCI with Schaeffer 7000 5w30.

1996 Honda Civic LX 116k: my daily driver. Mostly short trips so I change the oil every 4k and I'm currently using Schaeffer 7000 5w30.

1984 Honda CRX 1.5 83k: my old fun car...I have a suspicion that this vehicle needs a head gasket replaced. It's currently off the road awaiting some other repairs. I change the oil once a year with Mobil 1 10w30.

1970 Land Rover IIa 41k: This is my other fun vehicle. I've put about 1000 miles on it after having restored it and the engine is still in a cleanout phase. After getting it running (didn't rebuild the engine with such low mileage) I changed the oil after 100, 300 and then 500 miles as it was still turning pretty black. I think with the current fill that's in the sump I'll do a UOA as I've hopefully cleaned out some of the gunk that might throw off the analysis. Currently I'm running Shell Rotella 15w40.

Current fleet (newest to oldest)

02 Wranler SE (39k) 6 month OCI -currently Delvac 1
99 Wrangler Sahara (85k) 10k OCI to increase =Delvac 1
92 Caravan (140+k) OCI whenever I feel like it -constantly rotating oil in the thing- whatever is on sale at Advance Auto

91 Taurus (136k) (only vehicle bought used) OCI whenever I get it back from my daughter at college (often enough) and any 5w-30 will do.

basket case 86 T-bird turbo coupe (not road worthy and mileage unknown)

As you can see ..I'd have to go back a decade to think of a car that we still don't own that was bought from new.

No .wait.....

86 Tempo GL Sport ..135k miles. OCI was seasonal when new ....which faded when Caravan was bought and use was reduced from primary driver to "husbands beater".

Current: '02 Ranger 4.0 4x4, 34k on it, gets M1 every 5k.
'87 Astro ex-phone co. cargo van bought used, 123k, dino every 3k or whenever my son (14) needs something to do and feel important.
Previous: '99 Ranger 3.0 4x4, dino every 5k, demolished at 45k (not my fault).
crushedcar.gif

'91 Lincoln 3.8, dino every 3k since new, sold with 153k and still ran great. My dad bought it new, I got it with 99k.

Anyone else running a 25 year spread on daily drivers? A 77 Chevy LUV and a 02 Chevy Cavalier. The truck is now sharing the garage with the fourth car since it was new.
Mostly Pennzoil, 10W30 and 6 month OCI, switching to 5W30 and 3 month OCI in 1992 for Grand Am with HO Quad 4. Traded the Grand Am in on the Cavalier with 180K. Great car, but it was nickel dimeing me. Body and interior were in great shape Last automatic was a 71 Valiant 318. Last pushrod was an 81 Pontiac Phoenix V-6. Both of them went over 100K on 6 month OCI's.

Anyone else ever have or even see a 4 door Grand Am GT with the Quad 4 and a 5 speed? My son's friends couldn't believe his mother's Pontiac.

Last car: '83 Plymouth Scamp (bought new, pick-up truck variant of the Horizon), 4000 mile oil changes, 145K miles when I sold it in 2001, bottom end was still good, went through a couple of heads they were a weak point on the 2.2l motor.

Current car: '01 Chrysler PT Cruiser, 3333 mile oil changes, have 34K miles on it, uses a little more oil than I'd like but no other problems.
