I stuck a Royal Purple filter on my Tacoma when it had 10k miles on the odometer. The owner's manual calls for 5k OCIs, which I adhere to.
Is the engine broken in enough to get by without changing the filter until the odometer hits 20k, even though I plan to change the oil itself at the 15k mark?
With the engine being relatively new, I imagine that there are still insolubles in the oil, but nothing that would clog a filter.
Any opinions?
