In over 35 years of using MMO I think I bought it in a gallon can once. It was the metal can when the Marvel company was in NY. Auto Barn would sell qts for $1.99 or even less, and 4 qts was always cheaper than a gallon, that's if I shopped right. Maybe one day I'll buy it in a gallon can and break the qt bottle habit.

No Gallons at my Walmart....only quarts that go for $3.77. Not a bad price if someone lives in an apartment and can't store a lot of flammable liquids.

That could be the reason why I don't see the gallon jugs in NYC for sale....too many people might get the idea of stocking up with gallons in their apartments....what a dangerous situation that would be in a urban setting.

MMO is safe and is highly unlikely to cause a fire...it is flammable, and could make an existing fire worse, but I wouldn't worry about storing a gallon or so under the sink.

a full quart of MMO in a 4 qt crankcase is too much.....you only need 20% capacity.

The bottle of MMO states an example of 1 qt MMO, and 4 qts of motor oil if your vehicle takes FIVE quarts.

anything less than 5 qt capacity, you should only use a pint(which is basically, half a quart, or buy the "pint" that is sitting on the shelf next to the quart, at least at my local Walmart anyways hehee)....

This is one of those instances where more is not always "better"....you want to have enough motor oil in the crankcase to suspend the "dirt" that the MMO cleans up.

and while you're at it, add some to the fuel too, 4 oz. per 10 gallons....or simply 6 oz. for most "passenger" cars.

On a side note, no "gallons" of MMO at my local Walmart either....but haven't been around to the other 3 in my locale to see if they have it.

Where do they normally have it in the gallons? lol kind of curious.....I know at my Walmart, the "quarts" and pints of MMO are down the oil additive aisle....just curious.

I've used a full quart in a 4qt sump before. Driven it 3000 miles that way. Not a single issue. Unless you call a spotless engine an issue. It cleaned up every single nook and cranny on a 98 Escort with 100k miles. Engine ran silky smooth for a long time.
I'm using 1.5 quarts of it now in a 5.5 quart sump. 1000 miles into the OCI and still going strong. I think 25% is the max though. Its great stuff.
