How many PENNZOIL PLATINUM users ?

5w-30
What to try synthetic and it's cheap
4 months 1,000 miles and 4 months 4500 miles in another car

I've decided to go back to dino Pennzoil.

JAX , did you find the XB's 1.5 ltr. to be quieter with the PLATINUM ? We had '06 XB w/ auto and could be annoying at highway speeds , steep grades , etc.. If ran into more money would buy another XB w/ the 5 speed tranny , drop some synthetic in both the engine and manual tranny to see what results would be . Very good handling , easy entry , headroom , and like the quirkiness .

What weight ? Reason why ? How long ? What vehicle ?

I run 5w30 PP in a 2006 Frontier with the VQ40 for 7k OCI. The main reason is I can't see buying M1 for twice the price when I can catch PP on Buy 1 Get 1 sales all the time. Oh, and it seems to be a pretty good oil from the results on here, particularly for the price!

5w30 currently. If only I could fine some 0w30...
At 1.99/ a quart, the stuff is a steal!
'06 Scion xB, since 9K miles.

It quiets the engine more than the M1 I tried once, and improves my MPG numbers slightly.

I used it for a few thousand in my SAAB but drained it early b/c I dropped my pan to clean the pickup mesh. I have an OC worth of 5W30 but am nervous about using anymore 30 weights.

But when I had it in, I swear my car ran faster, my love life was better, my lawn was greener, and my neighbors were nicer.

It's just oil. Good oil, but oil none the less.

I'm glad Shell has put out a serious competitor to M1. Other than M1, most synthetics on the shelf were mediocre at best. Now that M1 seems to be mediocre, this is the perfect time for Shell to cut into Mobil's market share. Mobil has done such a great job though marketing/acquiring factory fill contracts that keeps Mobil 1's elitist status.

What weight? 5w30 or 10w30
Reason why? Great value at BOGO or better prices.
How long? Ever since I found out M1 was not what it
used to be. About a year or 20,000 miles.
What vehicle? 2004 Chevy Silverado Z71

5w30

Trying it because it's been performing well in UOAs and is easy to find and costs less than other synthetics (esp. when on sale!)

It's been in my 98 Corvette for 2 months and over 2000 miles so far.

I picked up 6 quarts from Wally-World today, 5W-20 to go into a 2005 Toyota Sienna now that Toyota OKed 5W-20 oil...

5w-20 for the first OC on my Scion XA. Will be using it(5w-30)for the next OC on wife's Miata. Sticking with M1 for the supercharged Dakota. Why? Good reviews here and FAR deal.

NTHACH , did you get the P.P. at the PEPBOYS price at WALLY WORLD or their price ?

You convinced me.

The '03 Taurus got a fresh fill of Pennzoil Plat 5W-30 last night. (No haters please, I prefer 5W-30 over 5W-20

)

I stopped using M1 just out of principle and Wally World always seems to be out of Castrol Syntec. The Civic is coming due for an OCI so I'll probably use the Plat in it too.

I got a lot on sale, but I would pay the $4 price if I had a nice newer engine for it that did not burn oil. Otherwise, to synth or not to synth is not a big deal in my eyes, especially in engines that were aquired 2nd-hand. I'm actually doing a run of Pennzoil dino before switching-in the PP. I'm not paranoid about flushing out the previous oil, additive chemistry or anything...I just happened to have some PZ dino from the same PepBoys $.69c rebate and it's still summer. This is the first time I've used PZ ever! Wear rates on PZ dino are pretty good and I think PP is up to snuff, heck how many oils actually bother to claim "A5", probally the best spec for my Hondas, besides HT-06, which it also meets. No complaints.
