I wanted to make another thread for this in case someone searches for it.

With the sale at AA on the Castrol Transmax and my need of 9 quarts per pan drain, ID like to get at least two D&RS worth of ATF. I think two years worth will store fine, but what about 3-4 maybe 5 years worth? It'll be in a detached uninsulated wood garage. So it'll see winter and summer highs.

How many vehicle you have that is more than 20 years old ?

The only potential problem is the plastic container my leak after 10-15 years, if not stored in a cool place.

At $4 a quart, you're not saving that much over Walmart Supertech. I'd just get 2 years worth. I actually got a bunch of Mobil 1 ATF from Autozone's clearance at $2 a quart so a lower price might pop up at some point. Plus I also remember Castrol use to go on sale for $4 a quart once in a while and you'll probably find it on sale again at this price in the next year or two.

I just used some 4 year old ATF. I shook it up and used it. No sediment on the bottom of the bottles, and the bottles were just fine. I'd say 20 years is pushing it though.

Considering it in some instances is a fill for life the oil lasts pretty long.
