Hotels

I have seen a few full. Often they appear full on line “ only a few rooms left” but when I go to leave at 5:00 AM only 1/3 of the parking lot is full. A lot of games played also.
Definitely....I never have a problem getting any rooms but the hurry up now is usually they have too many rooms and no customers

Should be deals then. Play with the dates. Use business oriented hotels in the weekend.
I actually have some very cheap deals...but I really got used to the house rentals...like to do laundry, cook, and park my car in the garage.. plus you don't get that 5 AM hotel fiasco....we all know what that is.

And Chimmie can visit 😃

Airbnb is a separate dumpster fire. People piled in during WFH and now many are cash flow negative.

Check out Home2Suites as a dog friendly option. Lots of hotels are dog friendly but that chain seems to do it better.

Did you ever get to the Topaz or whatever it was called at Flagler
Too lazy to look it up... I was going last August but the prices blew up a few days before.
It isn't the Topaz thats a 2 star joint

Late April seems pretty good
Seeing houses in the 9 out of 10 ratings range for $868 for a week with usable garage...

We couldn't get a hotel in Greece, at least not for an astronomical rate, so we tried VRBO.

Recently nicely renovated, washer, dryer, we were supposedly the 3rd renter. A previous guest left their HIV medication in the fridge, which was just a little bit of a turn off...LMAO.

A lot of the locals are mad at AirBNB due to the fact that local entrepreneurs are buying up properties and renting them out, pricing them further outside of the city. You can even see anti AirBNB graffiti around. Average income in Greece is $800 a month, a condo /apartment owner can make this in 4 days or less.

Some must understand living in a popular city is a luxury, just like having a nice car or watch.

I usually use Bookings or Expedia for houses but have used VRBO without issue....
I leave those properties better than I find them and when dealing with the owners they appreciate it....

I did have a interaction with a private owner while I contacted her for more details.

She started telling me her home is smoke free and I need to respect the new furnishings. And I should not leave the home after 8pm and they worked hard to buy it and this and that.... I can see her stopping by daily.... I went elsewhere even though her requests wasn't something she needed to worry about with me but I knew she was trouble..

Not really. Airbnb owners don’t get a vote. Neighborhoods in Charleston are beginning to pass by laws limiting short term rentals.

I wouldn't want AirBNBs by me neither. I sure would want to own some in a city and make bank though. Call me a greedy NIMBY hypocrite I guess. Glad to see a local is doing something about it, turning your entire downtown into a hotel can cause some trouble.

I do like the Hotels with a restaurant etc built in....

I wouldn’t call you those things. Entrepreneurs seek individual opportunities. Government does what is best for the collective.

There is a reason hotels get built in certain zoning and pay commercial property taxes. Airbnb is trying to game that and the rules are catching up. If 1 in 100 places were Airbnb likely no one notices. But in popular tourist places it has become untenable for the locals.
