I'm on my second and third Subaru. I had a '17 Legacy sport for 2 years and traded in for an '18 Legacy Sport (wanted Android Auto) and also bought a '19 Impreza Sport. The Legacy is used for driving kids around and to take some miles off my wife's commute so we split miles between that car and her '14 CR-V. My Impreza was bought to replace an old B6 A4 that had 200k on it. I use it for gigs and I smoke cigars in it. I was also using it for commuting to work when I actually had to go in the office.
I have never used RP for no other reason than I just didn't. In my '17 Legacy I did use Amsoil SS. In my '18 I have used M1 EP and now the one time change to HPL before going back to my stash of M1. My wife's car was dealer changed with M1 (assuming AFE) up to around 99k. I have used Amsoil SS twice in that car and Kirkland once before making the same one time switch to HPL. Going back to Kirkland to get through that stash. My Impreza has seen M1 EP and PUP. I don't drive the car enough to get any good mileage out of it now. My changes are usually between 1200 and 2k miles but I have to change due to warranty. I have 3 qts left of HPL that I was going to use in that car but if I do, I have to figure out the best option of what to mix with it for the other 1.6 qts.
As a side note, my B5 S4 has seen M1, Amsoil AFL and EFM, T6 (forum guys swore by it) and Total aside from 5 or 6 dealer changes. The car is also modified as a Stage 2+ but needs at minimum 1 new turbo plus I have a pre-cat exhaust leak, need UCAs amongst other things including body work. I would love to run HPL in it after everything is all fixed and my hopeful upgrades like bigger turbos and fueling kit, BBK, bigger rims for said BBK and possibly a 6-spd swap. However, I have no money to do this and I still have boxes of M1 to get through. ****, I have had the 034 UCA front and rear on the shelf for 5 years and I have no idea when I'll be able to put them in. But with all that said, I can't drive it until I re-register it and have it inspected but the CEL will make inspection hard.
Sorry for the rant but I would love to use HPL in everything but sometimes it comes down to cost and benefit. When I can get PUP for $10 per 5qt and am doing 6k changes or 6 months whatever comes first I have to look at the big picture and save money especially when we are trying to save for a new house. I have no problem buying HPL once in a while though to make sure things are nice sand clean but as I am under warranty for 2 of those cars I can't really extend my OCI.
