High Performance Lubricants, will you be open any days during the last week of this year?
Please report back on your observations.......
Of course. Please report back on your observations.......
Thanks
How did you drain just a quart?Of course.
Is the decision to esters the reason behind 1-quart volume of product? I'm asking because it seems that the majority of these products are limited to around 500ml in volume. We use an ester at a safe treat rate not a solvent. So aside feom filter plugging the concern would be elastomer compatibility. Good there. Next the largest thing to worry about would be in a severely sludged engine. If you dissolve more material than the oil can handle it would likely precipitate out. In that case having a fresh charge of oil would help as you would have an “empty sponge” to absorb the material cleaned. Deposits tend to be acidic and contain metals that could have a negative catalytic effect on the oil. That is something to consider. My thought is even though it should be safe to 10,000 miles there would be more benefits to limit the cleaner interval to 5,000 miles
Drain plug on my car is a plastic one that is a turn and lock affair. It's v. simple using a special tool I have for it...back it out most of the way and drain what you want. I'll do a UOA like normal after but decided the before wasn't worth the money. I've done a before/after with the LM flush that's been posted...doesn't really show a thing. How did you drain just a quart?
Ya know what would be really cool is if you ran fresh oil for 2k miles then add cleaner and run it for 2k miles. Do a UOA for both.
The quart is the volume needed to get everything we want in the vehicle. Is the decision to esters the reason behind 1-quart volume of product? I'm asking because it seems that the majority of these products are limited to around 500ml in volume.
Well my test of the HPL engine cleaner is not going as planned. By time I got access to my sons 180k 2AZ-Fe equipped Solara he had already changed the oil 3 weeks earlier. The dip stick showed no oil need to be added but I put 1/2 quart of engine cleaner in anyways ( I remember when I was having to add oil weekly from my PP 5W30 stash over 70K ago, we went thru my entire stock of SM, SN, SN+?).
I can already see "grit" on my dipstick. It is very fine but it appears to be newly there, this stuff must be beginning a deep clean.Got mine today. Will drain a qt of the LM Molygen this week and add the qt of cleaner and run for a few mos/1K.

Its about 1000 miles or so, depends if you take Rt 80 or if you spend the money to gIf you're passing through IL they would be more than happy to take care of you.Im interested in this product, but need to figure the breakpoint in shipping... or wait until Im passing through IL. I think it was like $17 to get two quarts to me in NJ, and $27 to get four gallons and $250 worth of euro 5w-40.
That's what is stopping me from pulling the trigger on the engine cleaner, and why I've been holding off. I'm also not sure if I want to mix in a straight 30 grade oil during the winter months, even if it's just a quart. It sounds like a great product though.Im interested in this product, but need to figure the breakpoint in shipping... or wait until Im passing through IL.
