Has RP formulation changed (VOA/UOA change too?)

Just bought some new RP 10w40 for a change in one of my cars, and noticed the bottle is now different (larger cap on quart bottles, similar to M1) and now says "for API SN" and there's no longer mention of the Synerlec additive.

Will this work the same as the old stuff, has anyone got oil analysis results on each (in 10w40) to compare? Or can comment having seen them?

Thanks

Sorry I just found what I was looking for by searching... guess my question remains as to whether it's as good

Has the ZDDP package dropped in any significant amount?

Moly is gone, and the zddp is probably cut in half, maybe to the 700-800 mark. The Synerlec formula had a ton of both.

Most of the chains seem to be glomming onto the API series, unfortunately. I would like to have the choice of which one I buy.

That said, I think the devotion to the old synerlec version may be overblown except for some extreme engine configurations. The way people chase after moly and to a lesser degree ZDDP in their oil is a little like the way people hung onto carburetors. Lack of trust in the new doesn't mean that the old is really better. For some applications maybe, but not for most.

That's a shame, moly gone and ZDDP down to ~700/800 isn't great. Are there any oil analysis' floating around of the 10w40 to prove these numbers? I've been searching but haven't found any, not even for other weights of the new oil.

I'm tossing up whether to sell it on or try it anyway.

I looked for numbers on the HPS and Zinc was ~1750ppm on the one VOA I could find which seems too high for a normal car. It's a turbo and has some tendency towards cam gear wear/rattle which is why I like the idea of a better ZDDP package.

My local Wal-Mart here has some. Approx $8.95 qt.
