One of my cars currently has a Purolator installed from a shop oil change.

A few years ago there were reports of Purolator tearing.

I was wondering if Purolator has addressed the issue? Did any BITOGers contact Purolator about this?

Not anymore, unless there's a post I missed recently. I have been using Motorcraft 910S made by Purolator on myFord Escape for years and so far so good. (y)

Been using Purolators on all of our Subarus as well as the Purolator made Motorcraft FL500s on my F150 with no issues. Since Mann Hummel owns Wix, which I previously used, and Purolator, I didn't see much difference. I may regret it later, but as for right now I'm okay with Purolator made filters.

Does a purolator really exist anymore? Mann bought Purolator years and years ago. They bought wix more recently and wix is just a porolator underneath at this point, or at minimum a mix of components. There all Mann now - for better or worse.

Purolator exists a lot now! Wix is the one to question if they exist anymore :D

Mann has been using the Purolator design on the non-XP Wix now. They have not used the German/European Mann design on Wix-branded filters, except when they are the OE supplier (for example, the 51334 is sometimes a W811/80 because Hyundai uses Mann from the factory)

I think it was sarcasm ... anyone here who's been around before 2014 and read the forum all the time should have seen all the threads showing torn media.

I have used the Boss's in the not too distant past and none of them ever had tears, but during the Tear-o-lator days I had a number of the Ones that were torn. I'd trust a Boss, but I'm still leery of the others.

I contacted them and they told me that if I had a problem that I should use another Oil Filter, and that is what I did.
