has Mobil 1 gotten better?

pp rd,

I have to agree with you. My 89' Camry with over 200K has been reliable since the day I bought it. Although it has consumed oil in the past I've been keeping an eye on it and the Mobil 1 oil burning/consumption has stopped. That's not to say that M1 has to take credit for it. I've used M1 ever since I passed the breaking in period and will continue to do so until I hear something comes out better.

Wether it's considered a group III oil or not these days just like Castrol it doesn't matter to me. If it were some type of false advertising I would think the FTC would get involved. I beleive allot of falises about M1 are just taken outta context and amplified through hear say means.

I only admit that the oil is expensive BUT not as expensive as that fancy Royal Purple. That is about 2 bucks per quart more than M1.

Mobil 1, in case you haven't heard, is now primarily a group III hydrocracked oil.

Will you provide us with irrefuteable evidence that the statement you just made is true. Not what some said online somewhere but actual test results that show it is a group3 product. I'm not saying your statement is true or false but with real proof you could right here and now end pointless debates about M1. Please sir, I honestly want to know. I don't use their oils but many here do and i'm sure they too would want to know as well.
So, end the confusion with your evidence.

WHO cares what they use ?

Follow the advanced specs and you'll find M1 0W40 European outstanding (who else does MB AMG?) and the M1 10W30 HM meeting ACEA A3.

There may be others in the line but spec-wise M1 generally performs no better than most plain-jain GrpIII.

IF they are using POA to get GrpIII spec's, it's sad.
